Wat Khae, Suphan Buri Province
Wat Khae in Suphan Buri Province is believed to have been established since the Ayutthaya period. Its history is mentioned in the epic 'Khun Chang Khun Phaen,' which is presumed to be based on true events from the Ayutthaya era, around the reign of King Borommatrailokkanat. This temple is significant because it is where Khun Phaen learned the magic of transforming tamarind leaves into wasps from Phra Ajarn Khong. Within the temple grounds, there is a giant tamarind tree that requires nine people to encircle it, believed to be over 1,000 years old. It is thought to be the same tree used by Phra Ajarn Khong to teach Khun Phaen the magic. Additionally, the temple houses many ancient sacred objects, such as the Rattanakosin-style Buddha footprint and the Maha Uthum Vihara, which enshrines the 'Phra Phuttha Mongkhon,' a beautiful principal Buddha image in the Mara Vichai posture, created during the late Ayutthaya period.

"Following the love legend of Khun Phaen-Wan Thong at Wat Kae, Suphan Buri - Experience the charm of Thai literature"
Today, I would like to take everyone to relive the famous Thai literary legend "Khun Chang Khun Phaen" at Wat Kae, Suphan Buri Province, a place believed to be the place where Khun Phaen, the main character in this immortal literary work, learned his craft.
The journey starts from Suphan Buri Bus Station by a three-wheeled vehicle with a round-trip fare of only 100 baht. The driver is friendly and chatty along the way, and also recommends other interesting places in the province.
The first highlight that you must not miss when you arrive at Wat Kae is the "Giant Tamarind Tree", an ancient tree believed to be the meeting point of Khun Phaen and Nang Wan Thong. Next is the Thai house model that demonstrates the wisdom of ancient people in construction. The design takes into account practicality perfectly, reflecting the expertise in building houses of people in the past very well.
In addition, the temple also displays the history of important people for study. For those who are fascinated by the literature of Khun Chang Khun Phaen or those who want to experience a retro atmosphere, Wat Kae is another destination that should not be missed.
Tip: You should allow about 1-2 hours to walk around and take pictures to fully absorb the atmosphere.
