Saint Lawrence‘s Church
A little way up the High Street of Burton-on-the-Water is the Parish Church of Saint Lawrence. This interesting church with its doomed clocktower invites further investigation. The oldest part of the present structure dates from the 1100s. In 1784 the Norman church was largely replaced with one of a neoclassical Style seen today. It’s bells, the oldest of which date from the 1600s, play different tunes every hour, something not to be missed

Sudeley Castle 🗺️
#myhiddengems
Visiting Sudeley Castle in the heart of the Cotswolds was like stepping back in time! 🏰 Located in Winchcombe, England, this castle is brimming with history and charm. For an entrance fee of £20, I got access to the castle, gardens, and chapel, which was a great deal considering all there is to see. The castle is the burial place of Queen Katherine Parr, Henry VIII’s last wife, and walking through the rooms filled with artifacts and exhibits really brought history to life. 👑
The gardens are absolutely stunning, with over 10 different areas to explore. 🌸 My favorite was the Queen’s Garden, inspired by the original Tudor garden design, where you can take in the beautiful sights and smells of roses. 🌹 The pheasantry and the adventure playground are great if you're traveling with kids. After exploring the castle and gardens, I took a short stroll into Winchcombe village. It's a lovely spot for lunch with its quaint tea rooms and local shops.
Nearby, I found the Cotswold Farm Park, a great place for families to meet farm animals up close, and the picturesque Cotswold Way walking trails offer breathtaking views of the countryside. 🚶♂️ All in all, Sudeley Castle is a perfect blend of history, nature, and beauty—definitely worth a visit if you're in the Cotswolds! #trip #SudeleyCastle #Cotswolds #HistoricEngland #TravelBackInTime #GardenLovers
Of cottages, country side and stones
#myhiddengems
The cotswolds region is massive area made up of meadows, hills, farms, and rivers. There are around 1500 plus square kilometers of unspoilt countryside to explore in this designated Area of superb Natural Beauty. The area is home to the famous honeycolored limestone called The cotswolds limestone. And this is the very stone you see cottages and houses here constructed with.
Now with experience I can also tell that this versatile destination can make for a very relaxing family holiday or a romantic one for couples. Solo travelers like myself need no invitation. One of my personal favourite things about this country destination were the gardens. The Cotswolds are dotted with so many delightfully pretty gardens. Some of them with attached cottages and some spanning acres and acres on manicured land. This somehow turned into the highlight of my costwolds visit. Havind said so, there are also trips you can go for, to several other stately homes and castles, including Cerne House, Rodmarton Manor, Kiftsgate Court, and Sezincote House.#myhiddengems #countrydestinations #summerdestinations #cotswolds #cottages #englishholiday #100waysoftravel #england #singapore

The highest of the Cotswolds towns, hilltop Stow-on-the-Wold lies in the north of the region, surrounded by pretty villages and rolling countryside.
In Stow-on-the-Wold, we visited one of the oldest and most famous churches called the Church of St. Edward. It was built between the 11th and the 15th Centuries. Hidden away on the grounds of the historic church is a mystical doorway that looks like a portal that could transport you to another realm, also known as the “Hobbit door”.

A fabulous unspoilt market square in the magnificent cotswold town of Stow On The Wold. With excellent facilities and an abundance of quaint shops on hand, this market square has to be top of your list for a visit when touring the Cotswolds.
The historic Market Square has hosted regular markets since 1107, with over 20,000 sheep changing hands there in its wool trade heyday. Look out for the high-walled alleyways known as 'tures' which would funnel sheep into the square. And the Market Cross which was built as a reminder for merchants to trade fairly.
