Yangshuo, the Longji Rice Terraces and Guilin in the Guangxi region are three beautiful spots to visit while travelling in China 🇨🇳 I think. - #yangshuo County is a really pretty area just an hour away from Guilin by train. Everything is beautiful here, mountains (never ending ‘Karst’ mountains I learned here), #liriver, caves and super nice food (including Li River snails 🐌). - The #longjiriceterraces are also impressive. Built around 650 years ago, they are nested among tiny villages just about two hours driving from Guilin. My western eyes never seen anything like that, ever. - #guilin is also really pretty with its Li River, mountains, the iconic Elephant Trunk Hill and caves as well. Plus I really like the lakes where the Sun and Moon pagodas are. I also found a really decent pizza 🍕 to eat here. Anyway, the #guangxi region did not disappoint at all 🤩🤩🤩

🌿 “桂林山水甲天下，阳朔山水甲桂林” – and I finally get it! 🇨🇳 Guilin’s scenery is the best under heaven, but Yangshuo’s scenery tops even Guilin.”) After visiting Yangshuo, I completely understand why this old Chinese saying has lasted centuries. I’ve seen a lot of beautiful places, but this… this might be one of the most breathtaking spots on earth. Towering karst mountains rise up out of misty green rice paddies, the Li River winds gently through quiet villages, and every view looks like an ancient scroll painting come to life. It’s peaceful, it’s cinematic – and I honestly fell in love with it. Orange blossom was in bloom when I visited, filling the air with this light, sweet scent as I cycled along the riverside paths. Locals waved, the sun peeked through the haze, and it just felt like time slowed down. Whether you’re rafting down the Yulong River, hiking up to Moon Hill, or just sipping tea with a view – Yangshuo is pure magic. Originating in Mao'er Mountain in Xing'an county northeast of Guilin, the Li River winds its way southeast for about 437 km, passing through Guilin, Yangshuo, Pingle, Zhaoping and finally meets Xi River in Wulin. It boasts the largest and most beautiful scenic area in China and attracts thousands of visitors each year. The 83-km-long waterway from Guilin to Yangshuo is like a masterpiece. The landscape is decorated with rolling hills, steep cliffs, fantastic caves, leisurely boats and is lined with bamboo. Most people who love Guilin scenery will also have a crush on the fishing scene: poling on a little bamboo raft, the fisherman light the kerosene lamp with a cormorant standing next to him and are ready to catch the fish. 📍 Li river, Guilin 🚘 We took an hour-long Didi drive from Yangshuo west street to the Li River ticket area, where we bought a package including rides to the park and back, plus bamboo rafting for four. 🌧️ Despite the rain and a long queue (over an hour), the bamboo rafting was fantastic—longer and more enjoyable than expected, with stunning views. ⛰️ 📸 After rafting, we explored nearby and found locals with 🦅 for photos. The area wasn't crowded, perfect for taking photos with the beautiful mountain and river backdrop. #guilin #yangshuo #chinatravel #liriver #bamboorafting

The Li River is one of China’s most beautiful destinations. We visited the scenic area printed on the 20 Yuan note. The landscape was just unreal! Limestone mountains all over, the Lijian river flowing slowly, small bamboo boats going up and down the river, the birds! It was all so beautiful. This is a perfect spot for sunset.
