The highlight of the day came as we descended via the slide, racing down the mountain through the forest—a fun and exhilarating way to end our visit. This was an incredible experience and definitely one i will cherish for the rest of my life. It was like stepping back in time and experiencing a glimpse of the Roman architecture. During our trip in February it was not so busy and with the weather being sunny for one day, it was not so crowded. Most of the preserved parts were built and reinforced during the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644 AD) to defend Beijing against the intrusion of northern Mongolians. The total length of this section is 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) with 43 watchtowers, however, only 3.74 kilometers (2.3 miles) and 19 watchtowers have been restored and opened to visitors. Badaling is local’s favourite section as compared to others section as it is easy to access from Beijing. The nearest section from Beijing. There are free luggage storage tent provided there. All path has signage which could avoid us from getting lost. You have to pay CNY40 for the entrance. For cable car CNY100 (one way), CNY140 (return). For pulley CNY80 (one way), CNY120 (return). Recommendation - Take cable car up to Tower 8 (the highest tower for this section) , climb down to Tower 4 and take pulley down to the roadside. If you have more stamina, can straight away climb down to Tower 1 (entrance) or use the convenient downhill path to the entrance. No matter how many times I have visited the Great Wall of China, it always impresses me. At 13,000 miles long and two millennia of construction, its history is so intriguing.
