Yoga at Wulai in the midst of nature🌿🧚🏼
My home town is in Xindian, and Wulai is very close to where I live, so on weekends, I go here often to enjoy nature. In spring, there are cherry blossoms🌸In summer, you can play in the river and enjoy the waterfall. Here are some places that I highly recommend:
📍Neidong National Forest Recreation Area
This is my favorite trail in Wuali because it is not too hot and the scenery is beautiful. There are also some small waterfalls along the trail, so you get to enjoy the cooling water. The main waterfall is very beautiful. It’s a beautiful sight to enjoy with family and friends. The photo of the butterfly is taken at this trail. This is not the only butterfly I saw, I saw so many kinds of butterflies on the way. This is the first time I see so many kinds of butterflies in one place🦋
By the way, near the entrance, there will be some locals selling local grown fruit and vegetables. I love buying local food because it’s healthier and I get to connect with the place deeper🥰Last time I bought bajiao, plums, and pumpkin🎃
📍XinXian Trail
This trail is also good for a relaxing walk and a forest bath. The bridge at the entrance is beautiful as well. You can actually start from XinXian Trail and walk to Neidong National Forest Recreation Area.
📍 Taiwan Power Company Guishan Hydro Power Plant
In my opinion, they sell the best and cheapest traditional popsicle in Taiwan. There are all kinds of flavors like green beans, red beans🫘 taro, peanut🥜 passion fruit, pineapple🍍milk, rice cake. My favorite is green beans as it is the best option to cool down in summer☀️
📍Wulai Old Street
Wulai old street has all kinds of indigenous cuisine. Here are some recommendations:
🎍Bamboo rice🌾 They steam the rice in the bamboo, so the entire dish smells so nourishing and immersed in the smell of the bamboo.
🥬Wild vegetables
I love the locally grown wild vegetables as they are more nutritious. Some examples are: nest fern, vegetable fern, Areca stem, arrow bamboo.
♨️Hot spring egg🥚 This is also one of the famous dish at Wulai.
Millet mochi
As you know, Wulai is home to the indigenous people, and millets are one of the main food of the them, so they make movhi with millet. The texture is chewy and sweet.
Magao (indigenous black pepper) coffee☕️
The most famous spice here is magao, which is the indigenous black pepper. They add it into various food even coffee! You definitely have to give it a try as it has a unique taste and flavor.
🍋Kala tulsi lemon drink
Last but not least is the cold drink. Kala tulsi is similar to chia seeds, but it is not. However, both of it has similar benefits to boost digestion and aid in weight management. This is a summer drink that is good for health.
I hope you enjoy this beautiful place as I do. Wulai is truly rich in indigenous culture and natural beauty. I genuinely appreciate this place a lot💖
