A very popular public space, the Hong Kong Park was built in 1991 with support from the Jockey Club. The park cost HK $398 million to build and covers a total area of 80,000 square meters. The Hong Kong Park is well-maintained and themed decorations appear during the main festivals, including the Lunar New Year and the Mid-Autumn Festival. They make wonderful photographs both during the day and at night. In the early spring the flowers are already blooming in the well-manicured garden space. I always stop and enjoy the ambience at the pond. It was therapeutic just to take a moment at the benches by the pond. On this day I had a picnic there. The Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware is a Declared Monument inside the Hong Kong Park. Construction for the Flagstaff House completed in 1846, and it is the oldest surviving western styled building in Hong Kong. When it began its first chapter, the Flagstaff House was named the Headquarters House. Its first occupant was Major-General Goerge Charles D’Aguilar, whose name is now borne by Cape D’Aguilar and the D’Aguilar Lighthouse. As the Commander of British Troops in China, D’Aguilar was a military officer when he arrived in Hong Kong in 1843. In 1844, he was appointed the Leutenant Governor of Hong Kong, and the Headquarter House was built specifically as his residence. In 1932, the building was renamed the Flagstaff House, but it served as the residence of the Commander of British Forces until 1978. During the Japanese Occupation years, the Japanese imperial forces also used it as the residence for its military commander in Hong Kong. The beautiful building became the Museum of Tea Ware in 1984. In 1991, when the Hong Kong Park opened, the Museum of Tea Ware became the classy resident in the well-landscaped public garden. Since 1984, the Flagstaff House has become the Museum of Tea Ware with donated exhibits from the collection of Dr. Kwee Seong Lo, the founder of Vitasoy. The Hong Kong Park is a public park next to Cotton Tree Drive in Central, Hong Kong. It was first open 1991 and it is a true example of modern design - facilities blending with natural landscape. The park is pretty big and it is offering a lot, you can watch birds, butterflies, there is an artificial lake which I think is the highlight of the park with its turtles 🐢 The Hong Kong Park a very relaxing place despite being surrounded by skyscrapers. In some parts of the park you can tell that you are in a huge city full of skyscrapers. Victoria Park is a large scale city park as well as a venue location for major events including an annual Flower Market for Chinese New Year, located in Causeway Bay. There are tennis courts, swimming pool, basketball courts, running paths and tree lined walkways with flower beds. Artificial pools for remote control boats, on the west end of the park a large fountain as well as a statue of Queen Victoria on the southern entrance to the park. I reached Victoria Park by Ding Ding (HTR). If you’ll do the same then make sure to get off when it runs along Causeway Road. I’m not sure if I’ll ever find out this playground if not because K is having tennis training here. Apparently, there are plenty of tennis courts at Morse Park. To my surprise , Morse Park is actually quite a big park, divided into few section; Morse Park no 1 which is where the basketball court located and next to the sports centre, Morse Park 2 is next to Wong Tai Sin Cultural Garden, Morse Park No. 3 which is the soccer pitch, then Morse Park No. 4 which is where tennis courts and skateboard park located. I’m pretty sure there are another children’s playground at Morse Park No. 1 but it’s far away from No. 4, so we just hang out at the one nearby. I do think it’s a great playground in core and strength training. Different type of climbing bars, balancing log, see-saw and rock climbing walls with 2 mini slides. Climbing in general helps children to build their physicals and gross motor skills. Different climbing structures have the following benefits: 1. Intense focus on each and every move made 2. To navigate through obstacles, it trains their coordination 3. Mentally and physically solving problems in hand 4. Boosting self esteem and overcoming fear via successful climbing 5. A simple playground at mid levels with lots of kids, parents and helpers. Do look after your young kids even when there’s gates around the playground because there’s big kids, and some kids that just love racing on their scooters across the playground. It’s almost like the play equipments are their obstacles challenge. There’s 2 area of the playground equipments, one for toddlers with slides and activities board; and another for active and older kids with slides, climbing bars, and a long queue for the holding zipline while swings are at the other side of the playground. If you’ve been to Lai Chi Kok Park.. it’s a huge park! Aside from the popular playground near the swimming pool; and the less known one at Meifoo station’s Podium (refer to previous post: https://www.facebook.com/113508473635882/posts/280781416908586/), we found another one after passing Ling Nan Garden, it’s called Lai Chi Kok Park Phase 3 on map. There are 3 areas right next to each other, I like this design because it means less crowded, kids don’t all get stuck at the same place. And each with their specialty: A is a big playground with bridges and runways, 3 slides side by side and monkey bars. B is higher, like a rocket with twirling slide. C with a ship theme with simple slides, balancing tools to walk or hip on (kids pretend walking on the rock in a river where crocodile might jump out) and a rather wide climbing walls. There’s a swing area, right next to C which I didn’t take picture because my kids are too busy running and playing around ABC. They spent most time at C though, with a lot of role playing pirate game and climbing the wall. I have been seeing pictures of a sea of peoples at playgrounds, beaches, theme parks and even hiking trails. So... my advice for anyone hoping to AVOID huge crowd (except theme parks), go early ! Everyone heard of Lai Chi Kok Park. It’s big, and there are a couple of playgrounds or picnic spots in it. But this time, we are not going to playground in the park, instead, we went to the playground on top of Meifoo Mtr Station at the Podium. We arrived the park at 10 in the morning (Saturday), the playground is quite, just a handful of people. It’s a simple but spacious playground, so kids happily running around, playing catch with other children; and hop on to swings, run down the slides, climb the monkey bars, and simply running around the play equipments that are attached together. There’s a fitness area next to the swing. Whole area of the playground is carpeted with rubbers. #Hidden Uninhabited Park Today is the last day of the Easter holiday and it's such a nice day🌞 I thought I would go out for a walk with my MBA👭🏻 On the way to our destination, we even discovered this hidden park😮 This park not only has multiple imitation pavilions, bridges⛩️, but also small pools⛲ and small waterfalls🌟 It's really beautiful and has many photo spots📸 And the best part is that there are not many people here!?️ This park is more hidden and less crowded than the hidden park we went to before💯 I was so happy to have discovered a new park to play with MBA in the future💗 💬👧🏻👧🏻👶🏻💬 Looking back on the internet, it turns out that this park has two phases. The weather was not hot and sunny, and we walked very comfortably! Teaware Museum (Central) Hong Kong men used to work near Hong Kong Park, and would occasionally go for a walk with their colleagues after lunch, but this is the first time Hong Kong men have entered the Tea Ware Museum inside. There is a sign at the main entrance to explain that this building was originally the old military commander's residence, and it is also the oldest Western-style building in Hong Kong. When you enter, you can't miss the tea sets left by different dynasties, so there are some display signs talking about the tea making methods of different dynasties. Located in Central Hong Kong, this beautiful park is a true oasis in the jungle of high-rises and one of the most peaceful places to visit in the city. Stretching out along a hillside, this huge, lush park contains a small forest of mature trees, water features, and a number of important attractions. One of the main highlights is the aviary. This large, outdoor area covered in netting is home to more than 80 species of birds, and wandering through this space, you would hardly believe you are not in a forest. High walkways take you up to canopy level, where you can see birds nesting and resting in the trees. Also in the park is a green house, the Hong Kong Visual Art Center, the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware, and plenty of space to simply relax and soak up nature. Yuan Pu Street Bird Park X Moon Park Yuan Pu Street Bird Park aka The Hong Kong Bird Market is a small lane highly entertaining for kids. In the chinese culture, birds are kept as pets; where you see old men holding their cages, taking their bird for “walks”, showing off their birds singing skills. The market stands are full of birds, a varieties of them; hand crafted bamboo cages; peculiar bird food like live crickets and worms. It’s one of our after school activity - exploring Hong Kong; be it playground, park, hiking trails, outlying islands, local spots or pop up events. Covid-19 wasn’t a around when we went to Bird Park and Moon Park. It was a Friday, after kids nursery and kindergarten classes. We meet up at the entrance after lunch, kids were excited as always. There are many types of birds, from the cute canaries to talking parrots, common sparrows and lots of pigeons around. After Bird Park, we walked across the street, took a bus and to Moon Park. Moon Park aka King’s Park located at Ho Man Tin, 10 mins walk from Yau Ma Tei MTR station. First obvious “item” making it a moon park is the moon surface like rocks at the entrance of the park. It does provide a good spot for pictures. Kids love climbing and jumping on “holes” of moon surface. Right next to it is a stone slides which kids enjoys. And of course, down the corner is the classic playground with slides, climbers and merry go a-round.
