Momiji Chaya is tucked away in a quiet corner of D2 Place. After work, escape the hustle and bustle with a friend and step into this Japanese-themed restaurant. The moment you sit down, the panda plushies inside the restaurant instantly lift your spirits, making it a perfect spot for a quick photo. Seeing their seasonal set for two, we didn’t hesitate to order. First came the appetizer platter, Momiji Four Delights: tangy and appetizing wasabi octopus, crispy yet non-greasy fried shrimp, fresh and succulent salmon/tuna/scallop sashimi, and refreshing Japanese edamame. The lobster salad was also delightfully bouncy and appetizing. For the main course, we chose the beef sukiyaki: the rich sukiyaki sauce paired perfectly with rice, and the beef was tender without being overly greasy. Another dish, the breaded pork cutlet with Hiroshima oysters, was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with the oysters offering a burst of fresh flavor. For drinks, we both opted for the creamy matcha latte. The rich matcha flavor combined with the light creaminess of the whipped topping balanced out the bitterness of the matcha. Desserts included matcha tiramisu and matcha shiratama. The matcha tiramisu was layered, sweet, and gentle with a hint of bitterness, making it irresistibly moreish. The matcha shiratama was chewy and delicious, complemented by red bean paste that brought out a traditional Japanese flavor. Ending the meal with a sip of warm green tea was utterly satisfying. Plus, it’s the only branch that serves unlimited Chaoshan beef 🐂, exclusively available at the Moko location. I chose the Passion Fruit Pound Cake Irish Coffee. It was smooth with a subtle sweetness, and I kept sipping it. The alcohol wasn't overpowering, making it easy for women to enjoy. Seeing almost everyone ordering Irish coffee, I knew I had found the right one. I also ordered the Pan-Seared Halibut with Lemon Butter Sauce and the Beef Rags Casarecce. After spending the better part of a month abroad, I couldn't wait to have hot pot back in Hong Kong. I craved beef day and night. $308 all-you-can-eat SRF American Black Wagyu. Start with the shabu-shabu hot pot base. It's spicy and comes with scallop and pork bone broth. After grabbing my drinks, the soup base arrived. The beef and shabu-shabu hot pot came in two flavors, spicy and mild, satisfying both my taste buds! A large seafood platter arrived first: cuttlefish, crispy grass carp slices, whitebait, scallops, shrimp, and my favorite, the prawns! Everything was fresh, especially the prawns, which were incredibly juicy! We ordered every type of beef patty: the shank, shoulder, tongue, and SRF Black Wagyu beef—all must-try! They were plump and had a nice bite. Each SRF dish had two large pieces of meat, and the marbling was beautiful. We ordered four on our first visit, and they were all gone quickly. We then ordered sesame chicken wings, braised pork belly, and squab. The squab had crispy skin and tender meat, and was delicious! We each had two! The fish skin, seaweed rings, lychee shrimp balls, and spicy crayfish from the buffet were all high-quality. We then ordered two prawns and squab, and the SRF Black Wagyu beef. I was afraid the Häagen-Dazs would be sold out, so I grabbed two glasses without delay, but it turned out they were constantly refilled. We finally ordered one of each dessert and the brown sugar rice cake to finish. All you can eat is prawns, squab, and beef, but these few items were more than enough to make up for the cost!
