Are you a Godzilla fan? Shinjuku is a place in Tokyo that attracts many visitors from overseas. It is always packed, and you can see huge branded stores here. Shinjuku is home to the first official Godzilla shop in the world. The nearby Don Quixote store sells a range of Godzilla-themed novelty goods as well. This Godzilla, towering over the Too Cinema in Shinjuku, is probably the most famous in Tokyo. On closer inspection, it's actually just a head and claw, but it still cuts a pretty intimidating figure. Every now and then you can hear his classic roar booming throughout the area. You can get to visit Toho Studios right up to the entrance in Setagaya, Tokyo. Here, you'll see that right in front of the main building, stands a fierce-looking Godzilla Statue that you can go up and take a picture with! if you pay attention to the wall behind, you'll see that it's tail has given it a big scratch. The building is also covered in a huge mural of the Seven Samurai that covers the entirety of it's side! Don't miss out on the huge Godzilla mural that's by the intersection if you walk a little past the statue. You'll also catch a glimpse of their other departments for pre-production, post-production, etc. all on separate buildings. Seeing the Godzilla head in Shinjuku was such a cool moment. It honestly made me feel like I’d stepped into a movie. It’s sitting right on top of the Toho Cinema building, and the first time I looked up and saw it peeking over the edge, I couldn’t stop laughing. If you want to get a closer look (and better photos), go up to the 8th floor of Hotel Gracery. Anyone can go during the day. At night, it even lights up and roars, which is so fun to watch but I didn’t get to take the night picture as my hotel was far from the location.
