I arrived at the palace just before 10:00 AM, and the morning light was perfect — soft, golden, and ideal for taking in the palace’s stunning architecture. Towering above the city of Lhasa, the Potala Palace looked every bit as majestic as I had imagined. With its iconic white and red walls and golden rooftops, it felt like a scene from a storybook. The tour officially began at 10:00 AM and lasted until 1:00 PM, giving us a solid three hours to explore. We wandered through grand halls filled with ancient relics, beautifully detailed murals, and sacred chapels that held deep spiritual significance. One of the most breathtaking parts was standing before the golden stupas of past Dalai Lamas — their presence almost felt tangible. The sense of peace and reverence within those walls was powerful. The group was small and well-managed, which made the experience intimate and unhurried. Our guide was knowledgeable and shared stories about Tibetan history, Buddhist traditions, and the unique architecture of the palace. Every corridor seemed to reveal a new secret or story. Bangkok Design Week 2024: Wongwian Yai - Talat Phlu This event is held every year. This year, it will be held from January 27 to February 4, 2024. It is an event that gathers artists, thinkers, and creators to design works that are consistent with the zones where the event is held. Wongwian Yai area The venue for the exhibition is the tunnel of the King Taksin the Great Monument using leftovers from shoemaking to create works that combine lighting and lighting. Talat Phlu area The venue is under the Talat Phlu Bridge with an outdoor movie screening. The second location in Talat Phlu is the Phra Phloeng Shrine, which has a giant incense stick design in front of the shrine. The third location is Talat Phlu Railway Station, which will start on January 28, 2024 onwards. This time, gardens by the bay is showcasing the Mongolian theme called chrysanthemum charms showing casing more than 80 over different flowers in the exhibit. There are also replicas of the traditional costume that the Mongolian villages wear and the different animals and lifestyle they practised.

There wasn't any popup stall like how they are having now in Takashimaya. We had a lighted candle stick, a paper lamp and would celebrate mooncake festival by lighting this paper lamp which more often catches on fire. Also, our ah ma will be the one making home made snow skin mooncakes too! But times have change, now Takashimaya is having a roadshow at the basement, and you will be spoilt for choice with the different brands from the many vendors. From snow skin, to baked, crusted flakky mooncakes and even some wierd unique flavours of mooncakes too! Not sure when the roadshow will end, but get your mooncakes and celebrate our yearly tradition in Singapore ^^

Let's update our list of must-visit exhibitions for this season with Bangkok Illustration Fair (BKKIF)! This event is a gathering of talented illustrators and artists from various countries, coming together to showcase their works, chat, and share experiences. This year, the event will be held On Ground, making it easier for us to enjoy and purchase their pieces, at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) on floors 1, 3, and 9 from September 8th to 11th, 2022. Floor 9 will be the main hub of the event, where more than 160 artists from Thailand and other countries will be exhibiting their works and selling merchandise featuring their unique styles. As a big fan of many of these artists, I was thrilled to see them up close and have the opportunity to purchase a few pieces as souvenirs (I regret not bringing along some of my favorite pieces for them to sign, though). If you're interested, you can buy tickets through Event Pop or purchase them on-site at BACC for only 100 and 200 baht, respectively, for access to all four days of the event. Plus, on the lower floor, there's a photo booth where you can snap some fun pics! With so many amazing artists in attendance, I couldn't get enough of this event. Another memorable day at iLights 2022 where I met fellow tripfam for photohunt. Our hobby is to capture photograph not only of a person or people but also nature and events. We met at cityhall for dinner followed by esplanade to enjoy free performance then walk around iLights. It's held from 3-26 June around Marina Bay area. Too bad, during this time it was drizzling that he didn't go and use his camera, instead he was just accompanying me to go around. Out of all the light displays, our favourite is kinetic flower at Fullerton area. It's colourful and attractive. Fuyue Hotel is one of the biggest hotels in Shanghai, with enough capacity to receive over 1,500 people for a given event. When you enter, you first get to admire the palm trees and a gorgeous fountain mid lobby. Rooms are big and clean, although a bit expensive (~700RMB per night). There are three restaurants available in 1st (buffet style) and 2nd floors (seafood🦞). Food is quite good, specially the pastry (and I don’t even like desserts🍰). Many different dishes are available, noddles and rice as basic staples, and fruit to refreshing your stomach after eating so much. Fuyue offers a gymnasium and a swimming pool, perfect for these summer days. Something I found absolutely surprising was to find a KTV in 2F. This hotel feels like indoors city. For event fans like me, we could find LatinLand Festival last few weekends, and the upcoming BeerNations 🍺 upcoming festival for beer lovers. These events take place for several weekends of June and July in Alacheng shopping mall. My hibiscus mezcal cocktail was perfect to enjoy sunny Sunday afternoon and Latin music. Mezcal is directly imported from Mexico (but has no worm, sadly). Many people were open to dance, play games and see Latin dance shows like salsa and Brazilian samba. Great gathering for groups of friends and families. Clowns show made the kids very excited. There are also several food and craft shops, not only Latin American owned. If you missed, don’t worry. Magnum Ice Cream brand made a cute colorful exhibition in Jinjiang Shopping Center. Entrance is free of any cost. Perfect for all ages, and cute pictures. No ice cream inside, unfortunately. Magnum exhibit was a nice surprise this Sunday afternoon, enjoying the small rooms and designs, reminded me artwork from TeamLab. Definitely a good place to enjoying a few minutes of nice art work with your friends or family. Although exhibition was small, art pieces in different rooms were interesting, including those three rooms with motion artwork.
