Dusit Thani Mactan Cebu Resort
I used the day use plan at Dusit Thani Mactan on my trip to Cebu.
The price may vary depending on the travel site, but in my case, it was just over 13,000 yen for two people.
It includes the lunch buffet and use of the beach and pool facilities.
The hours of use were 8am - 6pm.
This was my first time using Dusit Thani itself.
I arrived at the hotel around noon, checked in, and headed to the lunch buffet first.
The restaurant was spacious, with delicious looking dishes lined up.
The outdoor seats overlooked the private beach, so I chose them because the view was great.
The open seats were comfortable, and the buffet food was of a quality that you wouldn't expect from an all-you-can-eat buffet, so I was very satisfied.
There was a wide variety of food, including Filipino cuisine, pizza pasta, tuna sashimi, and sushi.
After the meal, I walked around the beach and pool area.
It's a spot that looks great no matter where you take a picture.
White Beach is incredibly clear, and the white sand makes you forget about your daily life.
The water is also crystal clear, and under the clear blue sky I felt glad that I came here.
The hotel also has a cafe where you can relax and have a coffee.
It's a bit expensive, but it was a wonderful experience.

📍Mactan Newtown Beach
Public beach on Mactan Island⛱️
Not only hotel guests but also visitors can use it for a fee✨
The fee is 650 pesos including lunch🍽️
Beach beds are included in the fee⛱️
You can use it freely if it's free✨
Toilets and showers are also provided, but there were a lot of bugs in the toilet💦
The outdoor shower can be used without any problems🚿
The beach is a bit stony, so it may hurt if you walk barefoot🙌
The water is very clear and clean🏖️💕
There is a restaurant where you can eat🍽️
There were some buildings still under construction⭐️
I wonder what kind of facilities will be built🎵
I don't have time to go island hopping, but I recommend it for those who want to go to the beach easily⛱️

The Cross & Church
Would you ever believe that the original cross from 1521 is still encased inside the wooden cross? That’s what experts says. Some people says it’s only a replica others says it’s destroyed. The cross is located in Magellan’s Cross besides Basilica Menor del Santo Niño de Cebu.
Cebu’s famous history about Magellan and Lapu-Lapu as Lapu-Lapu is one of Philippines greatest heroes for his bravery to resist Spanish colonization.

Avoid Taxi Touts in Mactan Cebu International
The first concern any traveller has when reaching his travel destination is to get out of the airport without getting price gouged. Such was our concern when we arrived at Mactan International Airport in Cebu.
We arrived at Mactan Cebu International and we had to get to Danao Port to catch a boat for Camotes Islands. We only had a general idea of how to get to Danao Port and that is either by bus or taxi. We chose the latter because#Mactan Cebu Intl Airport even though it may be more expensive, it would get us to the port on time to catch the scheduled boat to Camotes.
Since tourists like us have a higher probability of getting price gouged especially when it comes to transportation, I did a little research on the most reasonable price to get to Danao Port.
First was to consult Google and travel apps like trip.com. The consensus price for taxi fare was within P500 or a little more. The next source of information was from fellow plane passengers from Cebu City. They confirmed that if we get a taxi that uses its taxi meter, the price would be around a little over P500.
But the most helpful piece of information that we got was from an airport policeman who was standing around the arrival area at Mactan International. He confirmed the price that Google and fellow passengers gave us.
After gathering our bags, we proceeded to the taxi area. Even before getting there, we were already met by several travel touts who carried a menu of travel prices to get to various destinations in Cebu. All the prices in their menu were beyond the travel prices that we researched by more than double.
Luckily, unbeknownst to us, the airport policeman that I had asked while waiting for our bags at the arrival area, had followed us. And just as he had started to talk to us, all the travel touts quietly slinked away.
He then proceeded to guide us to the taxi area where he instructed the taxi driver to use his taxi meter and told us to give the driver a tip when we get to Danao Port. We were so grateful to the helpful airport policeman that we insisted to give him a gratuity for at least equivalent to a cup of coffee.
Indeed, when we got to Danao Port the taxi meter was just a little over P500. We tipped the taxi driver an extra 40% of the metered price and we were all satisfied.
In conclusion, it always pays to do your research before you get to your travel destination. And when you get to your travel destination be friendly with your fellow passengers because they could give you friendly advice in getting around.
And most importantly, do not hesitate to ask travel authorities that you might find at your arrival whether you travel by plane, bus or boat. Who know's there might just be a guardian angel among them.
