☝ This Zen temple was established around 1370. The main hall was rebuilt in 1778, and visitors can freely worship the Great Kannon Bodhisattva. The temple features one of only two thatched imperial envoy gates in Japan, welcoming worshippers. It is the 11th site among the 25 Kansai Flower Temples, and in April, visitors can enjoy the moss phlox. Unfortunately, in 2025, the peony garden in May and the iris garden in June will be closed. After walking through Miyajima, we arrived at Senjokaku, a large wooden space where the wind can pass through. This is also a wooden shrine built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi during the Momoyama period. As the name suggests, it is incredibly spacious, and just sitting on the floor and looking at the sea is soothing. Looking up at the ceiling, you can see votive plaques and paintings that have been donated! Apparently, this building has been unfinished for over 400 years... It was a mysterious place where time flows slowly, surrounded by the quiet air and warmth of wood. It is known as a shrine revered by Minamoto no Yoritomo and Tokugawa Ieyasu, and you can feel the history. There are also sights to see, such as the lion dogs, savings mound, ginger mound, and power stone! Eh? In a place like this? When you think of Seimei Shrine, you think of Kyoto! But did you know that there is also a Seimei Shrine in Tsuruga City, Fukui Prefecture? I had never heard of it before, so I was intrigued and went there. It is a very small shrine, but inside, there is a very nice lady who will tell you all about Abe no Seimei! She even told me about the gourmet food around the shrine, and was very kind and easy to talk to. At the end of March, I visited Nanzoin Temple located in Sasaguri Town, Fukuoka Prefecture. As soon as you step out of the station, you can feel the calm and serene atmosphere. While there are tourists, it’s not overly crowded. The parking lot near the station is spacious, making it very convenient for those using rental cars. Now, let’s head to Nanzoin Temple ^_^/ Cherry blossoms were in full bloom, and I enjoyed a pleasant walk while admiring the flowers. The temple is home to one of the world’s largest reclining Buddha statues, and seeing it in person is truly awe-inspiring. I spent approximately 2 hours there ⏳.
