An absolute highlight of my recent trip to New Zealand for Chinese New Year, The Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland. NZ is famous for its volcanic and geothermal activity and there’s no better place to experience it than this, I’ve never seen anything like it. There are guided walk ways that take you around some Of New Zealand’s most active and most beautiful geothermal areas. The main feature is the champagne pool, a huge lake constantly bubbling and emitting overwhelming clouds of steam. The pool is quite shallow and you can see beautiful underwater detailing, also the range or colours in the mud and water around it is stunning. If you get close enough you can be surrounded by steam and experience the heat, id advise closing your mouth as the sulphur makes the experience very eggy. Follow the trails that you want to do, we did the two main trails and it took us under 2 hours. It was a very easy walk but it can be tough in the heat, so pack sun cream and water as there are no facilities along the route. I was amazed at the colours in the water and how different the thermal outlets can be, some made of mud, some are super hot water and others seem to just be tiny cracks in sheer rock. It was one of the pricier experiences on the trip but totally worth it! It also has a very nice gift shop and restaurant if you want to recharge after the walk Entrance fee is $45NZ / £22 It’s open 8:30 - 4:30 and last entry is 3PM ‼️ this is an active geothermal area and it can be very dangerous, please stick to the designated walk ways and don’t touch the water!! The Science museum of Nagoya is a great place to check out if you’re visiting the city, especially if you have children. The entrance fee depends on your choices but you can do the museum, planetarium and any of the special exhibitions. However the planetarium experience is only in Japanese so I only did the museum. The museum displays are also just in Japanese but the audio guide is very helpful! The museum is separated by theme and there are lots of interactive exhibits on each floor. The highlight for me being the tornado simulator and the huge model railway - highlighting the different transport infrastructure of Nagoya. Follow the escalators up and go floor by floor, then get the glass lift down as it offers a great views of the surrounding area. The Nagoya science city museum is 7 levels of varied and dynamic museum exhibits with lots of interactive exhibitions. It is very informative and factful with signs to read and a really, really amazing planetarium. And its seems to be quite popular with domestic crowd. Lots of families with kids and people of all ages. It can be quite busy on the day, so it's best to get tickets in advance. Because at the venue I saw a long que of people buying tickets. I also like the central location, which makes it easy to get to. There's something here for everyone, whether you are a child, adult or a just interested in science in general. My first amazing trip to Nagoya, Japan and wanted to share my experiences. Nagoya is a vibrant city that has something to offer everyone, from families to thrill-seekers. Discovering the Wonders of Science: My first stop was the Nagoya City Science Museum. This museum was a fascinating place to learn about science and technology. There were interactive exhibits, planetarium shows, and even a dinosaur exhibit. It was a great way to spend a few hours and learn something new. Building Memories at Legoland Japan: Next, I visited Legoland Japan (I am a lego fan). This theme park was a total blast! The rides were thrilling, the LEGO creations were incredible, and the atmosphere was full of fun and excitement. I especially loved the Miniland area, where you can see iconic landmarks from all over Japan built entirely out of LEGO bricks. Indulging in Authentic Japanese Cuisine: No trip to Japan would be complete without trying some of the local cuisine. #londontrip During my summer trip, I had the chance to visit Down House, the home of Charles Darwin, located in the charming village of Downe, just outside London. The entrance fee was £11.50, and it was worth every penny! 🌿🏠 Stepping into the house, it felt like stepping back in time. The rooms are beautifully preserved, and you can see Darwin's study where he wrote "On the Origin of Species." It's fascinating to walk through his personal space and get a glimpse of his daily life. 📚🔬 The garden was a highlight for me. It's lush and well-maintained, and knowing that Darwin himself conducted many of his experiments here made it even more special. I spent a good hour just wandering around, enjoying the peace and tranquility. 🌸🦋 Nearby, you can explore the charming village of Downe, which has some lovely pubs and cafes. I included a trip to Little Ding-Dong Science Theme Park during our recent Taiwan trip as my kids are interested in science. The theme park is a unique blend of entertainment and education, focused on promoting science and technology through interactive exhibits, demonstrations, and hands-on activities. It aims to engage visitors of all ages in exploring various scientific concepts in a fun and engaging way. The theme park is located in Hsinchu, a city about 70 km from Taipei. We took a local train from Taipei main station to Xinfeng train station, then took a taxi to the theme park. We reached in the evening and stayed a night in the lodging located in the theme park. The entrance to the theme park was included in the accommodation fees. We explored the theme park the next day for a half a day before continuing to our next destination. There are many fascinating creatures that once and still roam the Philippines, and it's great to know that those that have since been gone could be seen in their glory in an exhibit. I found my eyes inspecting all the displays and being more curious than before. How did these species live? How did they perish? What would be their impact on this planet if they were still existing? Singspore Science Centre has many exhibition running at one time making the admission fee very worth it, but do take note that it is closed on a Monday but opens on other days from 10am - 5pm. One of the more interesting exhibit is the know you poo exhibit where you will discover and understand what kind of poo is a healthy poo, what makes a fart so smelly and also understanding what items will be choke down the toilet bowl. Well, it's good to know your body inside out, as this might even alert you early if there is something wrong with your body internally. Next is the lazer maze challenge where you will be tested with speed, accuracy and precision to see if you are able to avoid the layers. Near to the entrance to the Museum of Natural History is the Hall of famous scientists sculptures. It is a new addition to the mall and is apparently the world's first scientist themed waxwork exhibit. The waxworks were made by a famous artist named Zhou Xuerong and are stunningly lifelike. When looking at the sculptures you can barely believe that they arent real people, truly impressive artwork. The depicted scientists are those that have made great contributions to scientific knowledge throughout history. There are some more recent scientists such as Yuan Longping the famous father of modern hybrid rice. The sculptures then go back in history including Marie Curie, Watson and Crick, The Wright brothers, Einstein, Newton, Darwin, Mendeleev, Galileo, Copernicus, Archimedes and many others. If you have an interest in science both modern or historical you will certainly recognise some of the faces depicted here. Getting There - The closest subway station is Grand Theater. From there, 2-3mins walk. Attractions - The museum has 4 floors. There were many different exhibitions such as ocean world, national defense, natural catastrophe, and much more. Most exhibitions had both Chinese and English! There’s also a 4D movie theatre. I watched a 15mins cartoon movie for 20¥. It’s quite fun! On top of that, you can also enjoy some simulators. It wasn’t too busy when I went so I waited between 10-15mins. I especially liked the natural disaster one. Food & Restaurants - There’s a restaurant on the first floor. The price is also very fair. I had pork dumplings, rice, eggs and tomatoes for 24¥. Shopping - There is a souvenir shop on the 2nd floor next to the 4D cinema. I was there for over 4 hours (including a quick lunch break) so I’d recommend you give yourself at least 3 hours so you don’t feel rush. Had the opportunity yesterday to visit the Shanghai’s new Astronomy 🔭 🪐 Museum. An indescribable experience. Three hours are not enough to see all the amazing halls and exhibitions. From ancient history and the beginning of astronomy, to current designs and space exploration. Most exhibitions are interactive, everything has English explanations so you can read and understand in detail, not like most museums in China. There’s also a coffee shop inside the museum, where you can eat or buy asteroid ☄️ chocolates (last pic). Such a wonderful time you should not miss! 📍Location: Lingang area, take Line 16 to Dishui Lake. Then walk or order a taxi) 💲Entrance: ¥30, includes movie. Booking and payment is done in app, a week ahead. Tickets become available everyday at 9:30am. 🟢Remember to be on time. Start in 1st floor and exhibition will move you up. In 2nd floor you can see coffee shop and another exhibit entrance. We missed the B1 hall due to short time. 🌌 Inside the Earth sphere there is a projection of constellations, you need to wait in queue. Tongji University’s State Key Laboratory for Marine Geology is a state-of-the-art lab in China, located in Lingang area. This laboratory facilities include two main buildings, the China National Scientific Seafloor Observatory, many fully-emptied laboratories, and a new wing that will become fully available in the next few months. MGLab is the China hub for IODP (International Ocean Discovery Program), which is the largest international collaborative research program on earth sciences and deep ocean. MGLab is also one of the main research centers for marine sciences in China. Additionally, has an awarded outreach program that included the Deep-Sea Pavilion with scientific exhibitions for children and general public. MGLab has many study-tours to students, academia and institutions, to promote and inspire new generations in marine based science and technology. The facilities were recently remodeled, includes now few lodge rooms and resting areas. Tours allow students to admire firsthand how marine researchers do their different tasks. HIT space museum is an attractive place to explore with kids. We visited and my kids liked it too much. It has China space history as well as various rockets and spacecrafts used in real. During #harbin visit it is recommended to visit especially for #kids interested in #Science and #space .

Going for Raufarhólshellir Lava Tunnel Tour was definitely one of the highlights of my Iceland trip! It’s just a short drive’s away from downtown reykjavik. If you don’t have a car, there are bus transfers to and from city! We embarked on this short 1hr experience in the morning and returned back by noon. It’s definitely one of the unique things you can do in Iceland, after spending much time looking at waterfalls and lava fields! Why not explore an actual lava cave itself?
