The hike for it's most parts wasn't that difficult but on our way up to the stream from an staircase like way became a bit difficult as it involved walking to slippery rocks along with fast flowing water. Binhai is a huge area of Tianjin located not far from the sea. Many parts of Binhai were built from “zero”, so building, roads, bridges are new. You can see modern Chinese architecture. Binhai Railway Station is first destination, it is beautiful inside and outside. Gulangyu Island is full of ancient buildings and beaches. The food street is the best place to have a taste of the Gulangyu food. This Island is worth spending days to have a good experience of ancient culture. The island is either big or small for tourists to go around but it will take at least 6 hours to walk around. FYI, there are no bike or taxi, so tourist need to explore the island on foot. The only thing that is done on this island is to test your walking endurance ”your ability to walk for hours 😓😓”. Dongguan is a small yet very beautiful city in Guangdong province of China. Yesterday I discovered the beauty of the city when I was wandering around. I grew up with one flavor of white rabbit, the original milky flavor. Songjiang district is under urban upgrade project and green developments of the city. If you visit Songjiang, you see this area is surrounded by many rivers, channels (52) and new waterfronts. Huanghe waterfront is located along the main road, next to important building complexes of apartments, commercial malls and hotels. This waterfront provides such a gorgeous view, and allows you to go for a short walk to refresh your mind. Like a little bubble in of nature when you only have a few minutes to spare. At any given moment of the day you can see people enjoying walks, exercises or even jogging (although I don’t think they have enough space, maybe just add the waterfront to their jogging route). This front is located a few minutes from the Wulonghu park, if you take the main road (Rongyue Rd) and move South. Wulonghu Park in Songjiang district seems to be one of the newest green developments the city’s urban upgrade projects for embellishment. This embellishment plans include channel and waterfront management. If you visit Songjiang, you see this area is surrounded by many rivers, channels (52) and waterfronts. This area resembles a little Chongming Island wetlands. Wulonghu Park seems to be quite new, I find it in the map but can’t find references of the name of this river. This green area is quite big, but trees are still small (recently planted/moved). Therefore, not much shadow during the day, and for a hot July day was not a good idea. However, I drag myself around because this area was so beautiful. There are many paths to follow, that goes under the bridge to continue your walk without worrying about main road (very easy access and to locate, too). Few places to rest. During the night you can see few building lights and gives a nice (and romantic) view of the city. Paths require better lighting, but I’m sure will be added soon. No many mosquitoes 🦟, despite the fact is summer and besides the river (big plus). For Sunday afternoon, nothing’s feels more joyful than walking around and explore new areas of the city. Streets around Xuhui are absolutely beautiful. So many trees and many old style architectural buildings that are considered cultural heritage, but only few belong to Shanghai’s Municipal Government (indicated with plaque). Shaanxi South Rd is full of cute stores and tiny restaurants, that gives an impression of European style influence over traditional Chinese culture. On the other hand, Xinle Road is full of gorgeous little clothing shops that makes you feel in Paris. Many of these shops are vintage, very luxurious for an specific clientele. If you are planning for a shopping 🛍 day, come to this area. Even if you decide not to buy anything, walking around this area during a summer afternoon was quite refreshing. There are many green areas in Shanghai, from private parks to municipal greenlands. From Shanghai Science and Technology Museum to Century Park, you can find beautiful roads worthy of long walks to forget you are in a megacity like Shanghai and displace yourself from the crowds. Shanghai is the city with more coffee shops in the world. Among those shops, Starbucks franchise is the one that wins. Almost in every corner, in every mall, there is a Starbucks. Polar Cafe is a cute coffee in FOR mall, located in Yanggao Middle Road. Polar Café is a small franchise, and there are a few shops in Shanghai, but couldn’t find much information in the website they include their decoration. This tiny coffee shop is literally full of polar bears: in the chairs, decorations and even in your coffee cup!! If you like bears 🐻, specially polar bears 🐻‍❄️, this is the place for you!! Super cute! As I walked by I got attracted by all the cute bears 🐻‍❄️ and had to come back and check it. Desserts are super cute, including bear 🐻 shaped cakes 🍰. This ambience make me feel in Christmas and winter, despite the current heat. Best time to come is during the night, even if shop is inside the mall and it’s a bit dark, night will let all the ceiling lights to be more appreciated. For a weekend stroll around Shanghai, I decided to visit a place in Fangdian Road (that seems to be closed). However, found a nice surprise right outside Exit 3 of metro: a street market. This market is mostly selling jewelry and accessories. Both jewelry stands are very popular with girls, that pass around and try the earrings or necklaces. The tea stand is quite nice, specially the red tea. You get to decide how much or even mix different teas to make your own blend. Additionally, my big surprise was to find few pets for sell. You find little cute birds 🐦 , bunnies 🐰, tiny hamsters 🐹, tow types of 🐢 and baby ducks 🦆. Some of the turtles were so tiny! This is the first time I see such pet store in the open in China. I did felt sorry for the birds, they should be free, not in cages. If you have some free time during this weekend, I’ll suggest you to come an visit. I just love these kind of markets. One of the most amazing things about Shanghai is how there are different flower seasons in different areas of the city during the year. March’s tulip season is one of the best. Going for a walk and finding such gorgeous flowers of different colors along the Avenue is just magic. Tulip season is mostly in spring, extended to summer before the flowers lose their color. Funny how pedestrians in this big city sometimes forget about nature and we’re very surprised to see the fact these beautiful flowers were real. There are so many fake flowers in Shanghai that one lose count. Therefore, being able to see and touch them feels like a wonderful moment. This particular location is along Line 7.
