The towering sandstone pillars are truly breathtaking and evoke the fantastical landscapes of the movie Avatar. The views from the various viewpoints are simply stunning, and every turn offers a new perspective of this natural wonder. I highly recommend taking the Bailong Elevator for a bird's eye view of the entire area. Be prepared for some challenging hikes, but the effort is more than worth it for the unparalleled scenery. It is a temple that is quite far from the city of Zhangye. The way to get there is not easy, but we took a taxi because it is the most convenient and time-saving. Anyone who comes to visit here should allow some time for travel because it is far away, so that you will have more time to walk around. To enter the area, you need two tickets. The first ticket is for entering the entire temple area, which is considered very large. There are two popular places to stop by (you should go by private car because the inside is wide and has many areas). The second ticket is for going up to the top of the temple as seen on the cover. Both tickets cost around 70 yuan (I can't remember). There are many places to walk around inside the main area and you can go up the cliff, but the inside is narrow and quite steep, and almost all photos are prohibited. Don't get discouraged if the weather report is bad for Zhangjiajje. we had three days constant raining, but the actual weather was much better! in three days we had scorching sun with 36 C, thunderstorm with huge rain, cloudy sky, cool temperatures and fog everywhere. But this kind of changing weather allowed us to experience the true Zhangjiajie-feeling. The place got international popularity after Avatar movie, but don't forget the movie is just a good amount of digital tricks this national park and what you see are all real, shows the greatness of nature. You can spend a week or so here easily. Besides the Zhangjiajie National Park (I recommend the park ticket with the unlimited rides on the cable cars and lifts, also valid for 4 consecutive days, so afterall not that expensive). And yes, start early, you will avoid the crowds or start late you will also avoid the crowd or just go where the tour groups don't go (for example the sights between Tianzi Helong Park and Yangjiejie Wulong Village are just skipped by 99% of the tours and 95% of the individual visitors. So after the busy Tianzi Cable station we found or totally alone at “Shentang gulf" or at a platform named "Arranging Battles". The accommodation is as advertised, beautiful and clean. Inside, there is hot water, hair dryer, tea, TV, air conditioner, sitting toilet, hot water, and a view of the mountains behind. There is also a beautiful walking street (only in the evening). Convenient, turn left and go to Wulianyuan (Dongmen gate), turn right and walk 300 meters to the bus station to the fast train station. If you want to rent a car, there is a service with a driver. You can rent a car to Heaven's Gate / 72-story building / and the fast train station. The price is not expensive. The owner of the accommodation is very helpful and recommends good routes. There are a lot of food and shops.
