🌟Historical Stories
It is believed that Luang Por Sothon has been enshrined at Wat Sothon since the reign of King Borommarachathirat II (Chao Sam Phraya), or during the early Ayutthaya period, approximately 500-600 years ago. It is constructed from sandstone from the early Ayutthaya period (King U Thong, the second generation).
🌟Luang Por Sothon is one of the legends of the floating Buddha image. The story goes that, in a northern Thai province, three monks, brothers, deeply versed in the Buddhist precepts, transformed themselves into Buddha images and floated down the Bang Pakong River.
✨There are numerous legends based on various sources, but none provide definitive evidence. Some say three Buddha images floated together, while others say five. However, every Buddha image that floated is sacred and a guardian deity of every province. They were brought up from the water and enshrined at that temple. There are also legends about the events of the floating Buddha images. The belief and faith in their removal from the water are the legends of each temple, stemming from the unwavering faith and sacredness of the Buddha images. They are all auspicious and miraculous in every respect.
