Really nice resort. Clean, modern, several beautiful pools which were never very full and the staff is incredible. They help in any way they can, including arranging for a last minute boat tour for us well outside of their usual hours and seemed happy to make it work (add the guides they work with are fantastic too). It was a very peaceful and comfortable stay overall.
The one issue is the food, they put a lot of effort into it and have a very large breakfast buffet every day, but the food just isn’t that good. There's one restaurant in the resort and there aren’t many (any?) other food options in the area, so it’s pretty relevant. The food is a bit bland or with strange flavor combinations. And worse, it takes a comically long time to get served, even if just a sandwich, and it’s usually cold when it comes. This happened at all 4 of the meals we had there outside of breakfast.
But... It honestly didn't bother us that much. Partly bc we're not big foodies, but more importantly, bc the staff is so incredibly friendly and helpful. Everyone goes out if the way to make sure you get everything you want and then some. I hope they can fix the food issues and this place would be 5 star
The location was in the center and public transpo was conveniently accessible. The bed was comfy, room size was acceptable, good running water. Housekeeping staffs were prompt. The staffs in the bkfast restaurant were not friendly, lacking in greeting the guests. The pool was small.
Awesome hotel! It basically has its own private beach that when the tide is right has really good waves and it has a massive pool so everyone is happy. It is away from the chaos of El Ndo, but close enough to be convenient when you want to visit. It’s a short walk to Lio, which is a chill town with great restaurants - especially Punta Playa. The breakfast, facilities and staff are all great!
A nice place to stay with a poolside room. Very clean room, and excellent receptionist who was very friendly. Location is subjective....I had trouble finding tuktuks back to the hotel. Overall, a pleasant stay
I would recommend The Funny Lion for anyone staying in Puerto Princesa. The hotel was very clean, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the facilities were excellent. Everything from the rooms to the amenities was well-maintained and comfortable. I had a great stay and would definitely come back again!
This hotel is in an excellent location, right next to the airport, which makes it incredibly convenient for travelers. They offer a free shuttle to the airport, which was very helpful. The breakfast was also decent, with enough variety to start the day well.
Although my check-in experience wasn’t perfect, the staff handled it as best they could. My room wasn’t ready when I arrived, and since the hotel was fully booked, I didn’t get the twin room I had reserved. However, they were quick to accommodate my family by adding an extra bed for the kids, which made the situation more manageable.
Overall, the location, amenities, and helpful staff make this hotel a solid choice for airport travelers. With a little improvement in managing bookings, it would be even better.
The room was basic, but for the price paid it was fine. The shampoo in the bathroom was empty during my nights stay which was a shame.
My biggest issue was the cleanliness of the communal areas. The tiled floors were filthy and covered in clumps of hair and dead insects. Inside the room, cleanliness was better, but there was still stains and marks on furniture and the walls.
Staff were kind and allowed me to have my breakfast at a later time than I’d booked.
Room is good, Service is excellent -Staff are all very accommodating and they all wear smiles, specially the Front desk Personnel. restaurant is excellent -the food is an A+, you don’t need to go out to find comfort food it’s all in there. Location wise, 15mins away from the town proper but it’s all good, tricycles are available anytime.
Vicinity is romantic when it comes at night, with relaxing sound of the band- i would prefer band that plays acoustic though.
Overall it’s a 5 star rating for me..
will definitely come back 🤩
The experience over all was amazing. We truly enjoyed our time in this hotel. The staff were very accommodating (they did need to switch us rooms though cause the first one had an AC with a bad smell) but without hassle they changed us and everything was fine. I think if the ac doesn’t run for a while they can do that. The pool was absolutely great, we spent most days in the pool at least once. I did wish it had a bit of shaded area over the pool itself but the water temperature was just right and so relaxing. The breakfast had a lot of choices and was very delicious. We had some lunches and dinners there too which were all great as well. There is a very cool 360 roof bar with a happy hour, though it was disappointing that the front desk info said it included cocktails and beer for happy hour but we were told beer only for happy hour prices when we went up there. The location and the views are just stunning from wherever you look and it’s truly peaceful. It is a bit far away so you would want a motorbike or car rental, which we did have so it wasn’t a problem for us. It was one of the most relaxing stays we had in the Philippines and we would definitely go back! :)

GGuest UserStayed for 4D3N in a 4 Bed Mixed Dormitory for S$32.92 (After Voucher Discount).
Pros:
- Room: Clean and decent. Plenty of space to open the bags and pack as need be. - - Laundry: There is a free washing machine & spin dryer (Rudimentary, hence it will take awhile / don't expect your clothes to dry 100%)
- Breakfast: Breakfast is included and decent
- Location: Close to the Main Street but far enough away that the Hostel is relatively quiet
- Front Desk Tours / Bookings: Front Desk can answer all your questions and help with any tour bookings. You just need to book with them the night before
Cons:
- Noisy: The rooms have a ”mesh window” hence if people are noisy in the corridor, you will hear them in the room
- Airflow: Airconditioning is decent but not very strong hence will have to turn on both the aircon and the fan. Once you close your curtains, you won't feel it
- Humidity / Laundry Area: Given the humidity, the items don't actually dry properly in the laundry area. Suggest to bring your own clothes line / hangers and hang them in the room as it will dry much faster
- Hot Water / Showers: There is a shared bathroom (Which was much cleaner and hotter water) than the ladies' only bathrooms (Which had no hot water when I tried)
Would recommend if you're looking for a quiet place to stay

MMago_TravelerOur family had a fantastic time at Astoria Palawan! The staff were well-groomed and very accommodating. The food was delicious, the pool and waterpark were clean and fun, and our room was stylish and cozy. The resort is packed with amenities, making it perfect for both kids and adults. Truly ideal for families—we can’t wait to come back!
WWinnieIt was fine for an overnight stay. Breakfast was reasonable here with tea/coffee, pastries. The front desk was not the friendliest of people & I was charged 800php for a lost key card , which I thought was pretty steep. Location was quite good as we wanted to be close to Tao Expeditions. The driver that picked us up from hotel did not help us with luggage at all, we dragged it through bumpy /rocky roads from airport to carpark and then to the hotel. Didn’t offer or lift a finger to help. But it had a great view from the breakfast roof top.
PPaul EdgarA nice place to stay with a poolside room. Very clean room, and excellent receptionist who was very friendly. Location is subjective....I had trouble finding tuktuks back to the hotel. Overall, a pleasant stay
VVictoria&JessiMy overall experience is good! I'm the type of person who prefers active travelling, so the hotel is needed literally just for sleep, shower and storing stuff.
My requirements for the hotel were good proximity to the city center and nice room with hot shower. Well, the location is truly good, it's a bit on the hill so to get to the city center you just need to come down. In the same building there is a great cafe DAYO who offer 10% discount per day for the Oceana Bay hotel's guests.
During our trip to Philippines, Coron was the last destination and the 4th hotel we stayed at, and that was the only one with some room facilities issues. When we checked-in it turned out there is no water in the shower, the staff truly tried to be helpful, the receptionist girl offered us to stay in another upgraded room before the problem will be solved. The thing is when one day later we had to return to the room the problem with the water wasn't solved, we had to contact staff all the time which for sure was absolutely inconvenient, especially when water could be cut off during taking shower. At that point nobody cared already, there were no offers to change the room or to offer us a discount. The siphon from the sink was leaking, so every time you wash your hands, the bathroom floor is immediately in water.
The AC is truly loud, but this is absolutely normal for Philippines, as well as the absence of hair dryer. Nice thing that the hotel unlimitedly provides drinking water in the hall. The hotel also offers tours, bike rent, transfer to the airport, but I'd suggest to check it out in the city first, we've found more convenient and better price offers there.
KKurzaThe hotel itself was lovely and the food was good. However, we found the roosters next to the hotel to be very inappropriate and disturbing. We could not sleep properly because they are noisy all through the night. There is no way to block the noise out.
We were able to switch rooms, which helped, but if the hotel is running at full occupancy it will be a problem. About 24 rooms are affected by the noise the roosters make. It is a pity that roosters on a plot next to the hotel causes plenty of discomfort for guests. If I was the owner of this hotel, I would certainly do something about the roosters.
AAnonnJust okay. If you’re looking for somewhere to rest I suggest you find another place. It’s close to the highway and is pretty much noisy all the time. In addition to that, the housing cleaning staff are also VERY NOISY. They start working very early in the morning and I know this by the loud chatter in the hallway every single morning. At random times throughout the night you’ll also hear hear loads of outbursts as well. Just very noisy, almost no peace. Breakfast was okay. The receptionist, the server and the driver were quite nice
AAnonymous UserThis place is fantastic! Location-wise, it’s really great. It’s very near the city’s commercial establishments and great restaurants - 5-minute drive on average. It’s also near the airport. The neighborhood in which it is in is very quiet and peaceful. So if you want a place that’s very accessible but still in a quiet location, this hotel is for you.
I also would like to commend the staff - they’re all very warm and friendly. They were very accommodating and gladly answered all our questions about our travel.
This hotel has a resort vibe so you really get to relax. It has great amenities, a lovely pool, and a relaxing main reception hall with a billiard table and comfy couches. It also has an in-house restaurant which is great for those who don’t want to go out to dine. Our room was very clean, cozy and surprisingly large for its price.
We would definitely book this place again when we visit Puerto Princesa in the future. Definitely worth the price! 🫶
