"How should I experience rafting on the Yulong River in Guilin for the first time?" I believe this is a common question for many people planning a trip to the Yulong River in Guilin! Today, please follow our guide, Yu Xi. This route is based on my three and a half days of exploring all the attractions within the Guilin Yulong River Rafting Scenic Area, and I've compiled all the essential information. Please read this guide carefully to avoid any pitfalls on your Yulong River rafting trip! ✔️ Tips: First, you can start from Yangshuo. It takes about 20 minutes to reach the Guilin Yulong River Rafting Scenic Area. Next, go to the visitor center to buy tickets. (A hard-earned lesson: Please, please don't do what I did and enter the park in the afternoon when it's crowded! Choose the morning! [Facepalm]) Then, walk straight along the ticket corridor until you reach the end, where you'll board the bamboo raft. Note: You can sit anywhere on the bamboo raft! (* ̄ー ̄) Once on the bamboo raft, please wear your life jackets. Not wearing them is really not allowed! 🙅 Next, I'd like to share five things to note about the Yulong River rafting scenic area: (1) If you're visiting during peak season, be sure to book your tickets in advance. Tickets cost around 30 RMB. (2) If you want a more in-depth experience of the Yulong River, I suggest going to Yangshuo first, which is only about a 20-minute drive from the river. [Joyful] (3) The rafting trip lasts approximately 14 minutes. (4) When the boat is moving, please don't stand up, jump around, or disturb others. [Chin] (5) Try not to eat or drink on the boat, as you might choke. [StarsEyeUU][HandsUp] In short, in my opinion, the Yulong River rafting is definitely a place worth visiting in Guilin, Guangxi. Welcome everyone to come and have fun! [Yeah][Yeah][Yeah] I'm Yu Xi, thank you for reading my guide! [Awesome] Follow me to explore every corner of Guangxi! Yangshuo, this small town, always manages to surprise you! My stay at BO·Hui Hotel (Yangshuo West Street Lijiang Branch) coincided with Halloween, and the hotel's elaborate Halloween decorations instantly captured my heart 🎃 Even more surprising was the complimentary photographer service provided by the hotel; the final photos were absolutely stunning, and the retouching was divine! 🌿First Impressions From the moment I stepped into the hotel, I was captivated—the black-themed wabi-sabi design exuded sophistication. The receptionist warmly offered me osmanthus tea, its delicate fragrance instantly soothing my travel fatigue. The attentive butler even helped with my luggage to the room, introducing the hotel facilities and nearby attractions along the way—this kind of butler service is truly rare in Yangshuo! 🛏️Room Highlights I stayed in a river-view room! The floor-to-ceiling windows offered breathtaking views of the Lijiang River, and the balcony provided a view of the misty river at dawn. The room's smart home control system was amazing; a simple "Xiaodu" (a smart speaker) controlled all the appliances. The bedding was incredibly comfortable, and the bathtub with its stunning mountain view was a brilliant touch! 🌸Excellent Location: The hotel is situated at the end of West Street, right on the banks of the Li River – a truly prime location! It's a 2-minute walk to West Street for dining, super convenient, yet you can walk back completely undisturbed. A morning stroll along the Li River is incredibly soothing; it's currently osmanthus season, and the entire street is filled with the sweet fragrance of osmanthus blossoms – no filters needed for photos! 📸Photogenic Spots • Pine trees in the courtyard + modern architecture backdrop (perfect for wabi-sabi composition) • River view terrace (best for photos in the early morning mist) • Halloween-themed decorations (limited time offer!) • Bathtub with mountain view (easily get Instagram-worthy photos) 💡Useful Tips • We recommend choosing a room with breakfast included; the restaurant view is amazing. • Visit during Osmanthus season (October-November) for an even better experience. • Recommended food in West Street: Master Chef's Beer Fish, Chunji Roast Goose • Remember to book your Yulong River rafting trip one day in advance. This stay was absolutely perfect! From the service to the details, I'd want to come back again and again! For those planning a trip to Yangshuo, this is a must-visit! #YangshuoTravel #DiscoverHiddenGemsHotels #LijiangRiverHomestays #OsmanthusSeason #HalloweenThemedHotel
Yangshuo | The vibrant atmosphere of life by the Yulong River: These 5 dishes will make me want three bowls of rice! 🍚 Authentic delicacies hidden amidst the mountains and waters 👉Shui'edi Village 📍No. 12-1, Shui'edi Village, Guangcheng Line (at the rafting pier) 🕒09:00-20:30 After enjoying the breathtaking scenery from a bamboo raft, it's essential to treat your taste buds to a feast! This farmhouse restaurant, located right by the rafting pier, offers a glimpse of the Yulong River through its glass windows. The scallion omelette, freshly picked by the ladies, is golden and fluffy. The meat filling in the stuffed snails is rich in the shell's flavor. The bamboo rice is bursting with aroma the moment it's opened. The ultimate dish is the Lipu Taro Braised Pork. The dense taro is wrapped in fatty yet not greasy pork belly, making it a perfect pairing with rice! The signature beer fish arrived sizzling. The fish, braised in Liquan beer, was so tender it fell apart with chopsticks. I could have eaten three bowls of the spicy broth mixed with rice! At just over 60 yuan per person, you'll be stuffed. Remember to get a window seat on the second floor. Enjoy your meal while watching the bamboo rafts drift by – that's the true way to experience Yangshuo! Tips: 1️⃣ After 5 PM, you might have to wait for a table, so avoid peak hours. 2️⃣ Eat the bamboo rice while it's hot; it gets hard when it cools. 3️⃣ Lipu taro is a seasonal treat; try it in autumn and winter for its most chewy texture. #YangshuoFood #YulongRiverRafting #GuangxiMust-Eat #FarmhouseFoodCeiling #TravelFoodie
📅 Itinerary Day 1: Take the Guiyang high-speed train to Guilin. Check into a hotel near the Two Rivers and Four Lakes, making it convenient for visiting scenic spots. After dropping off my luggage and enjoying a bowl of Guilin rice noodles, I walked to Zhengyang Road Pedestrian Street. I saw the Sun and Moon Twin Pagodas during the day, with Elephant Trunk Hill nearby. I entered through Gate 3 and exited through Gate 2. Even in the off-season, Elephant Trunk Hill was packed with people taking photos (Guilin Yangshuo has strong UV rays, so wear sunscreen). The Sun and Moon Twin Pagodas at night were truly stunning, and a photo opportunity was a must. Zhengyang Road is especially lively at night, with many people, plenty of food, and street music. Beer fish is everywhere. I recommend buying group buys online; we tried one, but it was terrible and expensive. Further down Zhengyang Road is East-West Lane, and further inside, you'll see the Jingjiang Palace. It's closed at night and requires an entrance fee during the day. We only visited to take photos and leave. The hotel is close to the scenic area. We walked and ate until after 9 PM, and the streets were still bustling. We slowly walked back to the hotel. We highly recommend the hotel we stayed at. The front desk was very friendly and shared travel tips. The lobby also had hot and cold drinks and tea. It was close to the scenic area and the staff were very helpful. Day 2: In the morning, we had Tianyuan Rice Noodles, a popular restaurant recommended by the hotel. It was packed with people and was indeed cheap and delicious. Our next stop was Yangshuo. We skipped the cruise and chose the high-speed rail from Guilin Station to Yangshuo. The cruise is expensive and takes over four hours, while the high-speed rail takes just over 40 minutes to reach Yangshuo Station. After getting off the high-speed rail station, you can choose to go directly to Yangshuo or to Xingping Ancient Town (20 yuan for a background photo shoot), 5 yuan per person. We went to Xingping first. The station has luggage storage and electric scooter rentals, but the prices vary. We compared prices a few times. We rented the scooters and rode around, checking in and taking photos. At the end, we paid 5 yuan each for a boat to the other side. We also had to take a sightseeing bus to Xianggong Mountain, but we decided not to visit the ancient town. Ancient towns across the country are similar. We picked up our luggage and caught the bus to Yangshuo. Personally, if you're not obsessed with the 20 yuan check-in, you can skip Xingping; Yangshuo's scenery is more than enough. We booked a hotel on Ctrip not far from Yangshuo West Street. The best thing about traveling during the off-season is that the hotel is cheap and close to the attractions. Beer fish, rice noodles, and snail noodles are everywhere. We briefly strolled around West Street, but it was crowded at night, with lots of people singing. Going to Xingping was too tiring, so we walked back to the hotel at 8 pm. Day 3: We had rice noodles again in the morning and rented electric scooters from the hotel for 30 yuan a day. The hotel provided a cycling route, which we took for a leisurely ride and check-in. We first went to Gongnong Bridge, parked, and paid 15 yuan. They took us to Shuei'erdi Pier, where we bought bamboo raft tickets on site. Buying tickets in advance is essential during peak season. Two people share a raft for 200 yuan. If you're short on rafts, you can combine them. Plan ahead. Each raft must weigh no more than 160 kilograms. They weigh you before boarding. We didn't take a cruise, but it was nice to experience the scenery on the bamboo raft. There were four dam crossings along the way, which was fun and beautiful. The entire journey took about 30 minutes. The cycling route was really convenient: Jima Pier - One Foot Rice Field Cafe - Mr. Zhang's Tree House - Haruki Murakami - Eternal Love - Moon Mountain... There were many check-in spots along the way, and you could also just follow the group. We followed them, cycling everywhere, looking around, and taking photos. Eating out is really expensive, so it depends on your luck. We went there in mid-September, and it was still very hot and sunny. We retired to the hotel in the afternoon and then went shopping and eating on West Street again that evening. The weather here is unpredictable, sometimes rainy, sometimes sunny. It's always a good idea to bring an umbrella to protect you from the sun and rain. It suddenly started raining that evening, so we hurried back to the hotel, but the rain stopped on the way. 🏨 Accommodation Recommendations: 1. In Guilin, we stayed at the Lijiang Letu Hotel. The customer service was super friendly. 2. In Yangshuo, we stayed at the Tree House Hotel Yangshuo Yitian West Street. We stayed there for two nights. The room was very spacious and the environment was great. When choosing a room, avoid rooms along the street. The beer fish restaurant across the street has a loud sound system that blares even past 10 PM. Both hotels are close to attractions and the rooms are decent. 🍴 Food Recommendation: Tianyuan Rice Noodles Don't try new things too easily. The osmanthus tofu pudding is not my cup of tea, and the beer fish may not be from the right restaurant. 📌 Practical Tips: Always bring your ID, sunscreen, an umbrella, and a power bank. Look for group buys online; it's always better than getting ripped off. Stay near West Street in Yangshuo. Stroll around the bustling West Street in the evenings. Rent an electric scooter in the mornings and ride around. It's too hot in the afternoons, so I recommend staying at the hotel. It's really hot. Be sure to book your tickets in advance during peak season. Bamboo rafting is also popular during off-season, so I won't mention peak season.
