Hu Ji Baozi has been open for nearly 20 years. The taste has remained unchanged, but the price has been rising. There are a lot of people queuing up early every morning. It is basically sold out and closes at around 10 o'clock. If you want to eat delicious food, you have to hurry up. The taste is good.

The history of the bun shop is not as long as that of Fang Ma, Chuan Wa and the old house on this street, but it has been popular since its opening. The beef and pork buns taste really good. The cabbage and radish ones are a bit spicy, but I like them very much.

Purely subjective, the rankings in each category are listed in order. 🍜 Small Noodles 1️⃣ Wenzi Noodles: A fusion of Yichang and Chongqing. This small shop has an interesting introduction to Yichang on the left wall and Chongqing on the right. I ordered the Wanza Wenzi Noodles, which felt like a combination of hot dry noodles and wanza noodles. Delicious! 2️⃣ Yazi: The beef and pork intestines noodles were generously filled and delicious, but surprisingly, there was no cilantro! Beef and cilantro are such a perfect match! 3️⃣ Wen Chouxiang: There are only two options: beef noodles and small noodles. The beef wasn't as tender as the Yazi noodles, and the flavor was average. There was also no cilantro! (I'll be honest, the small noodles weren't as good as the Chongqing ones, probably because I have a strong palate.) 🥟 Snacks 1️⃣ Osmanthus Pancakes: I happened to see a long line at this small shop while walking by. I looked it up and saw it was a long-standing shop that's been open for over 30 years and is a favorite among locals, so I joined the line! It turns out the osmanthus pancakes have nothing to do with osmanthus flavor. They're filled with spicy beef and covered in sesame-sprinkled fried pancakes. They're incredibly fragrant, hot from the oven (my mouth is watering just writing this 🤤), but they're a bit salty towards the end. 2️⃣ Hu Ji Baozi: Large steamed buns with spicy beef filling. The wrapper isn't quite as soft and fluffy, and I personally find them a bit too oily. 3️⃣ Luosi Fu Radish Dumplings: I'm fascinated by the production process, but I'm not particularly fond of the radish dumplings themselves, which are also a bit oily (I'm really getting old). ☕️ Coffee 1️⃣ Don't Overdo It: Both the pour-over and the latte are delicious. It's said to be the first coffee shop in Yichang to use a spicy mom. The space is spacious and bright, perfect for an afternoon of relaxation and reading. 2️⃣ Step Coffee: The latte was pretty good, the barista was very interesting, and sitting by the window looking out at the old neighborhood was quite fun. 3️⃣ Shanshui Coffee: Maybe my expectations were a bit high. I ordered two specialty blends, but both were disappointing. I'll try something else next time. The whole space is cozy, and the owner and staff are very friendly. 🍖 Others 1️⃣ & 2️⃣ Yichumao BBQ & Chef Jie BBQ: Delicious 😭, especially the vegetarian dishes. It's the kind of Southern barbecue I miss so much that I can't find it in Beijing. 3️⃣ Juweng Fatty Fish: Very fresh, light, and healthy. I loved it. I didn't even need any dipping sauce; the flavor was just natural. The fish soup with rice was also delicious. 📚 Bookstore 0️⃣ After searching around, I found that there seemed to be no independent bookstores in Yichang. I look forward to discovering something new next time I go. I really can’t list all the things to do there. Riverside Park, Canal Park, Old Street, Three Gorges Dam, and Gezhouba Dam are all worth visiting. That’s about it.

I only recognize the chestnuts from his shop. They are glutinous, sweet, and full of grains. They are authentic Qianxi chestnuts! 🐟 Yidaoxian This old-fashioned restaurant is very authentic. I especially recommend fried squid with shredded pork, Kangshifu fried meat, soda meat, braised fish, etc. 🎣 Xiao Lajiao Fresh Fish Restaurant A hot pot restaurant hidden in an old residential building. Silver carp and yellow bones are highly recommended. If you are afraid of spicy food, you can choose the shuangyang pot base. 🥟 Hu Ji Baozi The buns are thin in skin and large in filling. They are simply amazing when you take a bite! Beef is 4r, pork is 2r, and vegetable buns are also available. Eat them while they are hot and delicious! 🦐 Han Ge Yu Zhuang A must-eat fresh fish hot pot when you come to Yichang. Order all the yellow bone fish for me! They are all weighed and killed on the spot, and even the pot bottom is fried on the spot, which is fresh and fragrant! 🍽️ Fuchu Restaurant The pepper fried meat is especially good with rice, and the roast duck is also delicious, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
