The Elder

We attended the Elder to try their new tasting menu and wow!!! It exceeded all expectations and took a tasting menu to a whole new level. The food was phenomenal - taste wise and presentation. The flavours were beautifully thought-out. I opted for the rabbit and veal and the meat was cooked to perfection and again, outstanding flavours! We spoke to the owner, Mike who took the time to talk through the menu and where the produce and ideas came from - it was fabulous to know that even the honey came from his very own bees! The staff and chefs put their heart and soul into every aspect and into ensuring the overall experience is a good one! Gerda was a fabulous waitress - she spoke about the menu and wine pairing (which is highly recommended) with so much passion and was attentive and warm. The fish options looked equally as beautiful and we cannot wait to return to try! An absolute VALUE for money - it was worth every penny and more!

Food is excellent - the chef is clearly very talented and creative. There were a few glitches with the service - no one to greet us when we arrived, a bit of a wait, a more expensive bottled water poured when not requested - but no matter, we had a good time and the food made it worth it.

Superb little restaurant tucked away down a side street. Incredibly attentive and polite staff ready to engage in conversation or scurry away. Lovely atmosphere in unique decor and THE FOOD….wow! Beautifully presented and high quality - a party for the palate.

Wild Game meat. Excellent all round experience and quality. Our waiter excelled him self and made our evening. Expensive meal and drinks total but worth every penny.

I can’t praise The Elder more. The food is simply wonderful-we had the tasting menu and our waiter was like an old friend-knowledgeable and great fun with a clear love for his job. Best place to eat in Bath, we love it and return regularly.
