The back garden must be guided by a guide to visit, from 8 am to 4 pm, every half an hour. Changdeokgung was built in accordance with the "front court and back market" of "Zhou Li". The palace is facing north and south, but unlike Gyeongbokgung Palace, it is built strictly along the central axis. Instead, it is designed according to the terrain and arranged from west to east. The palace complex of Changdeokgung was rebuilt in 2004. The original building was destroyed during the Japanese occupation. So it looks very new. Before I came to Changdeokgung, I thought the back garden was similar to the Imperial Garden of the Forbidden City. After a round, I realized that it was much larger than the Imperial Garden. It is a masterpiece of traditional classical gardens. No wonder it is a world cultural heritage. There are pine and cypress trees and maple trees in the back garden. In autumn, it must be a scene of uneven green cypresses reflecting red maples.
