"Manmei Pork Feet" is a place recommended by our guide Dinosaur during our visit to the Hualien-Taitung Valley. I didn't expect it to be such a popular specialty store. The storefront is not very big and the exterior of the house is also very simple. There are many calligraphy works left by cyclists outside, and there are also tables, chairs and benches, but the weather is hot, so they are all indoors. After pushing open the door, I saw that the small store was already full. The busy clerk led us to the simple tables, chairs and benches, put the menu on the table and went about his business.
Looking around, I saw that everyone was feasting. There was a plate of bright red pork feet on the table, and everyone showed a satisfied smile. It can be seen that the "well-deserved" Manmei Pork Feet is still praised by people.
Manmei is the nickname of a mother-in-law. Now she is the third generation to run the store. There are many photos of celebrities and the boss on the wall.
Although the store is simple, the taste of the pork feet is really good. The pork feet are well-marinated, soft and sticky, not very greasy, with a little sweet aftertaste, and crispy when eaten.
We also ordered the local white bitter melon soup. The bitter melon was hollowed out and minced meat made with an exclusive secret recipe was added. It tasted refreshing and just offset the bitterness of the bitter melon. It can reduce internal heat in summer. The local cabbage is our Chinese cabbage, which is crispy and a little sweet. The bamboo shoots are also crispy and tasty.
The price is very fair. It is the place where we spent the least in Taiwan. Six people spent NT$875. It is really a cheap and good restaurant. I recommend friends to try it.
