When it comes to local food in Wudalianchi, almost all locals will recommend two restaurants to you - Li Laotou and Wang Maolu. The former is mainly engaged in mineral fish, and the latter is famous for mineral tofu. The commonality between the two restaurants is nothing more than the special mineral water of Wudalianchi.
After weighing the pros and cons, I finally chose Li Laotou's mineral fish. One crucian carp and four garfish were stewed together with sauce. The other one was home-cooked tofu.
The fish meat is very tender, and the crucian carp unique to Wudalianchi is softer and tenderer. Chewing the fish meat carefully will make it taste sweeter. Garfish is actually the angci fish I have eaten before. Although I have eaten angci fish in other places before, it was also cooked with live fish, but the garfish here has more delicate and chewy meat.
In fact, you don't have to choose these two restaurants. I always feel that many times the things in the scenic area are actually not as good as their reputation. But when you go to Wudalianchi, you must try the local mineral fish and tofu.
