My husband is a whisky lover and was recommended this place by his brother when we went on a trip to DC in September 2017. When we visited the institution, it was me, my husband, our 19-month-old son and a few friends of my husband. I was delighted with their service as they accommodated us (exhausted parents who walked around a bulky stroller and a wayward baby all day) very well. My family went to The Saloon nightclub at the first point of everything that was made up of their little plates: stew steak, pumpkin Italian stew, roasted pork belly, roasted scallops and lobster rolls. Everything on the small plate was sold for $1,00 and quickly decorated with artful decor. Each plate looks delicious. As for whiskey. Let's face it, this place has one of the richest whiskies that delights the average whiskey connoisseur. My husband ordered a few different whiskies - not in the size (oz) you like, any glass you like, and had a water bottle added to it, or no, your whisky. You can say he was a happy guy. If you are a whisky fanatic, this is your place! Overall, the atmosphere is just right. The service (especially whisky specialists) was helpful and friendly. The whisky was great. The food was delicious. What else can I add?

A nice bar with a nice environment, delicious whiskey, and a large entrance, so it's very easy to find. There are many waiters and the service is relatively timely. Overall, I am very satisfied with the hotel.

Good atmosphere - the second floor bar area has a retractable roof which is great when the weather cooperates. The food is good, though not cheap. Weekends are always crowded, so weeknights are your best bet. The bartenders are helpful in suggesting specific whiskeys (Scotch whiskey (specialist) or other than Scotch, ie: made from rye, bourbon, etc.) and other types of adult beverages.

OMG! If you love whiskey or want to experience something special, spend an evening at Jack Rose. It has the largest whiskey collection in the country - correct me if I'm wrong. While some can be and are very expensive, it's a must to have at least one drink. The friendly and welcoming staff makes you feel very relaxed. I know The Saloon has other rooms but I only ate/drank in the bar. Upon entering The Saloon, my date and I were immediately transported to a whiskey wonderland! Bottles upon bottles! It was jaw-dropping. They started our entertainment with the Crispy Salmon Skin Squash. I didn't want to drink whiskey but asked them to give me something special so my first two cocktails were not listed - if they were, I couldn't find it on the menu. I do know there was one called Mother in Law which was amazing! We tried many of their small plates and all of them were devoured within minutes of receiving them! The bone marrow, oysters, scotch eggs, and combos were all delicious and tasty. A friend in the restaurant was celebrating his birthday so we had a night of whiskey tasting. Pictures are attached of the four samplers. Everything was delicious served in their own ceremony. I can't wait to go back. It's pricey but worth every penny. Plus, share a drink with friends during a happy hour and split the chicken skin. It won't break the bank and you'll leave on Cloud 9. Enjoy!

This restaurant has a unique menu and the meals are excellent. Recommend the chicken liver & onion appetizer and the pork chop for entree. Order biscuits with your meal and they are made to order and brought still hot. If you like a good bourbon or whiskey you can choose from over 2000 bottles on the wall. Finish with a burnt cream ice cream or bourbon ball on the spot. One of the best meals I had in DC.

We were in DC visiting museums and went looking for dinner. We decided to add the "Whiskey Experience". We had raw oysters and grilled scallops for appetizers and the Jack's Burger for entree. Neither my girlfriend nor I are whiskey or scotch fans, so we left it all up to Charlie and our server, Chris, the whiskey consultant. Together they chose two flights for us and nailed it. We found a great bourbon, a great rye, and a scotch. We were hooked. If you visit, know ahead of time that the whiskey flight is not cheap, but it is guaranteed to be a great time. >
