Kwonsooksoo in Seoul, a promoter of traditional Korean food
There is a small tea table on each table in Kwonsooksoo restaurant. The small tea table is called Haejuban. Every dish will be placed on this small tea table. It feels like watching a Korean costume movie. This is the way chef Kwonwoo Jung imitates the ancient Korean nobles' eating style. In this way, people can straighten their backs when eating so that they can smoothly put food into their mouths, which represents respect for food. The Chinese name of Kwonsooksoo is Kwon Chef, which is taken from the meaning of chef in ancient times. It can be seen that the original intention of the chef to open this restaurant is to promote the traditional Korean food culture. Kwonsooksoo did not disappoint. In the first "Michelin Guide Seoul" in 2017, Chef Kwon won 2 stars, and has been stable in the Michelin 2-star restaurant for the next two years.
If you want to eat at Kwonsooksoo, you can make a reservation on the official website. There are Korean and English options. The date, time, number of people and what to eat are all clearly written. You will receive a confirmation email one or two working days after the reservation is completed. A credit card guarantee of 100,000 won is required within 48 hours. If you cancel 4 days in advance, you can get a 100% refund. After that, the refund will be less and less. Of course, there will be no refund if you don’t eat. I went for lunch. The lunch menu is divided into Lunch Course and Lunch Tasting Course, with prices of 88,000 won and 100,000 won respectively. I think Lunch Tasting Course is better. If it is dinner, it is 165,000 won and 195,000 won. In addition to the high price, the dishes have also been adjusted and increased.
Kwonsooksoo has a rich opening. In addition to the rich appetizers, there is also a welcome wine in a plum wine bottle with great ornamental value. You can drink and eat appetizers. I really don’t like Korean dumplings, but the others are pretty good. The next few dishes were all good. I had to choose one of the four main dishes. I chose kimchi beef pancake, but I think I made the wrong choice. The taste was too sweet and not suitable for me. The meal was full of Korean flavor, but there was no lack of innovative elements. Many dishes used Western methods, especially desserts.
