Absolutely stunning views, but a sigh escaped the lips of everyone in our party when we found out the Bougainvillea was fake! Service was warm and attentive (but the restaurant was largely empty). Ok, more seriously, Pasta Nerano was a highlight of the meal, with most other dishes being very good. With a Michelin star, I expected a bit more ``wow" in the dishes.Wine prices were definitely inflated (many bottles were more than double the price of the same bottle at various places in Positano), some of this is likely due to the Michelin star, but probably also due to a ``Capri tax".

This restaurant does not deserve to be in the Michelin guide at all, let alone hold a star. Little of what we got had flavors that worked together. The lobster might as well have been a lump of unseasoned meat, the cod was held up by one of its two sauces, and the ravioli and eggplant were as good as their counterparts from a restaurant on the docks. To top it off, the bartender not only could not make the ordered cocktail but tried quite audaciously to serve one bearing no resemblance to the one I had asked for, admitting later that he had done so because he did not have the ingredients to make what had been ordered. Whether he thought I would not notice or would not care I do not know. At any rate, I am left to surmise that either the Michelin guide has fallen into some serious hardship or several of its inspectors owed someone at the restaurant a weighty favor. Or, perhaps, contrary to its raison d’être, the Michelin system means something different and inferior in Europe than it does the States. Whatever the particular reason(s) here, it pains me to say this as someone who has long believed in the guide: the star means nothing here. There are better restaurants in Capri, in Italy, and in the world—by any imaginable metric of the remotest relevance to a place that purports to call itself a restaurant. Truly and utterly disappointing.

This restaurant changed a lot since our last visit! On the whole food is good, not exceptional, and ingredients are fresh. Service is also good but at times lacks the necessary attention. However management has to decide whether they are after a restaurant experience or an 80’s disco with music being so loud that you can hardly have a conversation at table. The price of food and drink is way above what you actually experience.

For a restaurant with two Michelin stars, we expected better. The fish course was very salty. Eggplant parmigiana was good but not outstanding. A chocolate cake dessert containing chocolate mousse reminded me of the chocolate volcano cake dessert present on so many American chain restaurant menus. Disappointing.
