Obelisk Review

Absolutely star meal, attentive, amazing service from knowledgeable staff. Every course was a new adventure and all were so good. We had wine pairings and they were perfect.

I ate there for my birthday. As mentioned before, it's expensive. For the two of us, it was about $200. No drinks/wine or tip.
While we really enjoyed it, felt it was a bit lacking in the excellent Obelisk. Only $100 for pet food, it should be.
Service was casual, friendly and smooth. A bit rushed during the appetizers though. Plates kept running and we ran out of dishes on our table. The gnocchi was light and fluffy but so salty that it was almost inedible. The salad with the pig's head part (meat and potato preparation) was oily and bland.
Tip: the bread baked in house is really good, go easy on it. There was too much food on the 5 courses and it was hard to finish. Although it was a good neighborhood walk to walk down after dinner.
So go and enjoy, wealthy foodies. It was a memorable dining experience.

This is the best food I have ever had in DC. No need to pre-tighten or BS, but high quality food and service. I was going to go to some trendy places to eat but saw it was close to my hotel and there was a handwritten menu every day with authentic Italian dishes. It’s like eating in Milan in a great place. No, not cheap, but it’s worth having an extra dinner in a big city. A great wine in a small place.

This is not a restaurant that chooses to impress your date without a sign; the decoration is extremely basic; the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, but the male waiter in tweed pants or jeans is not suitable. People come here for delicious and juicy dishes. Considering the fixed price menu comes with some entertainment big river, appetizers, entrees, cheeses, deserts (+ mignardises), which is also good value. No wonder this place is always full. One not too often though the portion is quite generous, so indulgent can come from the obelisk, Obelix.

What an amazing little discovery! We would never have found this little Italian jewel if it hadn't been for the great reviews that guided us there. The package menu was a steal. Book a table because it was well deserved all night. Nonetheless, attentive waiters and taking the time to explain all the options. The aperitivi was great: once the best prospect burrata, brewed fried pumpkin flowers... everything was well prepared and there was a clear respect for the authenticity of the recipe. We went twice, and the second visit only confirmed the views we formed on the first occasion.
