Rainbow Drive-In Review

This is a local old fast food restaurant that has been open for more than 50 years. They serve Hawaiian-style rice, which tastes good. The chicken steak and beef rice are also good. There is basically no difference in price, but the chicken is a little cheaper.

The transportation is convenient, the taste is OK, the overall service is good, and the drinks are served very promptly!

Founded in 1961, Rainbow Drive-In is a famous restaurant that is always introduced in guidebooks. I'm sure many of you already know about it ☝️ I hadn't been there yet, but I visited for the first time after climbing Diamond Head. It has an eye-catching yet nostalgic storefront, wide opening hours from morning to night, reasonable prices and a wide variety of menu items 🤔 You order at the counter and pick up when you're called. (You can choose your seat at any time, like in a food court) Since it was my first time here, I decided to go for the loco moco 🙋‍♂️ A large hamburger steak and gravy sauce on top of rice, and two fried eggs, for about USD10 it's a bargain! (You can change the rice to potato + macaroni salad) The sauce isn't too thick, so it's not too heavy, but the hamburger steak is meaty and filling! There's nothing elegant about it, but it's simple and comforting. That's the deliciousness of the loco moco here 😋 In Honolulu, where countless restaurants are born and then disappear, this restaurant continues to operate as usual.
