On the first day of arriving in Yangjiang, I visited the former residence of Guan Shanyue, a famous Chinese painter. The Guoyuan Village in Napeng Township, where Guan Lao's former residence is located, is full of poetic and picturesque scenery. Guan Shanyue, who loves painting, could not afford to go to art school because of his poor family background, so he switched to a normal school with free tuition. Later, he took Gao Jianfu as his teacher and embarked on the road of art. The kitchen is on the left side of the door, and the yard is further in. The rooms are on both sides of the living room. Regarding Teacher Guan Shanyue, many people may feel familiar with him. He is a famous contemporary Chinese painting master. Master Guan Shanyue, who is famous for creating the huge Chinese painting "Rivers and Mountains Are So Beautiful" in the Great Hall of the People, is originally from Yangjiang. His former residence is in Guoyuan Village, Napeng Township, Yangjiang. Walking through the country roads in the village, we saw murals on many houses, as well as Guancun Primary School, which was inscribed by Mr. Guan Shanyue himself, and was also his alma mater. Then we came to Mr. Guan Shanyue's former residence. He is a representative of the Lingnan School of Painting. The former residence only retains some simple furniture from his lifetime, as well as many representative works. Everyone carefully looks at the world-famous [Rivers and Mountains Are So Beautiful]. It is a huge colored landscape painting created in 1959 in collaboration with the contemporary Chinese painter Fu Baoshi, and is now collected in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The painting is based on Mao Zedong's poem "Qinyuanchun·Snow", depicting the beautiful scene of the vast land of China "wrapped in red and white, particularly charming" when the clouds clear and the sun rises. The mountains and ridges in the painting are covered with snow, the Great Wall is winding and undulating, and the vast Yellow River is flowing endlessly, with a variety of scenes. Yangjiang｜The former residence of Guan Shanyue, the master of the Lingnan School of Painting who created "The Rivers and Mountains Are So Beautiful" [Transportation] Depart from Foshan → Guangming Expressway → Guangzhou Branch of Chenhai Expressway → Chenhai Expressway (Yangjiang Exit) → Xiping North Road → Jinshan Road → Weixing Road, about 3 hours, the whole journey is about 220 kilometers. After getting off the highway, there is a section of village road until Napeng Village, so please slow down. [Environment] Guan Shanyue created a series of rural and folk works facing the three big banyan trees at the entrance of the village. The deep alleys are paved with tiles on the ground, which is clean and hygienic. The open space in front of Guan Shanyue's former residence has been converted into a small courtyard, where you can sit and enjoy the cool breeze. Here is some introduction about Guan Shanyue. There are two large blue brick and tile houses, one is the Guan Shanyue Living Museum, and the other is the Guan Shanyue Works Museum. The furnishings of the former residence remain the same, with two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and a patio. Hanging in the living room are pictures of Mr. Guan and his father, some paintings by Guan Shanyue when he was young, and Chairman Mao's inscription "The Countryside is So Beautiful". On the left side of the patio is Guan Shanyue’s studio and small study. In front of the drawing table is a large drawing board fixed to the wall. Guan Shanyue studied, researched and created a large number of art works here when he was a child and young adult. The museum displays replicas of some of Guan's representative works. [Comprehensive] Guan Shanyue, a native of Yangjiang, Guangdong, is a famous Chinese painting artist and art educator. Later, he was appreciated by Mr. Gao Jianfu, the main founder of the Lingnan School of Painting, who invited him to the Chunshui Painting Academy for free and became Gao's disciple. In 1946, he became a professor and director of the Chinese painting department of Guangzhou Municipal Art College. After liberation, he served successively as professor and deputy director of the Fine Arts Department of South China People's Art School, professor and vice president of Central South Art College, and vice president and director of the Chinese Painting Department of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. The most famous work is "Such a Beautiful Countryside" which was a collaboration between Guan Shanyue and Fu Baoshi. Fu Baoshi painted the mountains, rivers and waterfalls in the distance, while Guan Shanyue made use of the advantages of the Lingnan School of Painting to paint the peaks with grass and trees nearby. Although the two have different painting styles, they are well integrated into one painting. They hid the four seasons of the year in one painting and revised the draft many times in order to show the beautiful mountains and rivers of China and the scenery of the four seasons.
