Tie Ge Bi ( Nan Tang Yi Qi ) Review

Ningbo Nantang Old Street is simply a paradise for foodies. There is a restaurant at every step, and they are all well-known brands. At Tiegebi, you can eat hand-shredded crispy chicken, drunken river shrimps, and fried clams in soup.

Walking around Nantang Old Street, I came across a very famous restaurant chain in Ningbo, Tiegebi. There are many Ningbo people in Shanghai, and they are very familiar with this word. The restaurant is in a very conspicuous location in the old street. The store is quite large, and the price is also very affordable. If you like to eat Ningbo grilled dishes, glutinous rice balls, and seafood, it is also indispensable.

Tiegebi Restaurant While strolling in Nantang Old Street, I had lunch at Tiegebi Restaurant here at noon. This restaurant is in a more prominent location and has a larger storefront. I went in and looked at the menu. The price was reasonable. Of course, if it was a large fish or meat dish, it would cost about 100 yuan. The two of us just ordered some home-cooked side dishes and Ningbo glutinous rice balls. This meal cost less than 100 yuan, which was very affordable. The key is that the taste is very good. Ningbo glutinous rice balls are really fragrant and sweet. Thumbs up.

Eat the Ningbo home-cooked food Tiegebi, the sweet and salty Ningbo grilled dishes, the slightly sweet clams, and the popular pan-fried dishes. The favorite is the yellow croaker (locals prefer to call it stonehead fish) stuffed with thin tofu skin, fried on high heat until golden, and eaten hot. It is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It is not greasy when eaten, leaving only the tenderness of the fish meat. It is good to eat alone or with wine. Another dish is fried white crab with rice cake. The combination of fresh swimming crab and water-ground rice cake is also perfect! Although it is not the best season for yellow croaker, it is also the season when crabs are fat!

Tiegebi is my favorite Ningbo restaurant, no doubt about it! The two must-order dishes when entering the restaurant are white crab rice cake and yellow croaker with bean curd skin, which are so delicious! The freshness of the white crab is matched with the stickiness of the rice cake, and the freshly fried bean curd skin wraps the yellow croaker, which is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The taste is really wonderful! When Mr. Wang Chong came to Ningbo to visit me during the annual review, we went to the restaurant on Nantang Old Street. Nantang Old Street is actually a street that is made up in every city, which is not very interesting.

"Tie Ge Bi" is a Ningbo dialect, which means neighbor. The owner of the restaurant told me that he chose this name originally because he wanted to make you feel like neighbors as soon as you come in. As the saying goes, "a distant relative is not as good as a close neighbor", so Tie Ge Bi Restaurant has always been adhering to Ningbo home-cooked dishes, and the price is also very favorable, only about 70 yuan per person, with excellent dining environment, high-quality service concept, and strict adherence to the concept of product first. It has opened 13 branches in Ningbo and has truly become a symbolic restaurant in Ningbo. If you come to Ningbo, you must try Tie Ge Bi, a Ningbo dish.

The yellow croaker with bean curd skin was delicious, the bean curd skin was crispy and chewy, and the fish meat was fresh, with the taste of salt and pepper. The crab with rice cake was also delicious, and the crab was very fresh, which was a surprise. The grilled vegetables were also delicious, with a great blend of sour, sweet and spicy flavors. The clams tasted average, but the ingredients were good. I ate a lot and there was no sand, and the shells were cleaned very well.

There are two Tiegebi restaurants on the old street. The price is very fair for a restaurant in the scenic area, and the taste is not bad. Tiegebi is Ningbo dialect, which means next door, referring to neighbors separated by a wall. Shanghai dialect also says this, and we also call it Gebi here. Ningbo dialect, Jiaxing dialect, and Shanghai dialect are very similar. You can understand 80% of the dialects here. I ordered Tiegebi's scallion oil mud snails. I have only eaten drunken mud snails, and have never tried scallion oil. The taste is still very strong, salty and fresh. A pot of 69 yuan is not a large amount, but it can't be finished in one meal. Grilled vegetables are the most common side dishes in Ningbo. Old Ningbo people have the custom of eating grilled vegetables and fermented rice balls on the night of the beginning of winter. Grilled vegetables are mainly stewed with seasonings such as dark soy sauce, light soy sauce, ginger, salt, and sugar. It can be regarded as an appetizer for rice and wine. Because I like seaweed, I want to order it whenever I see it. However, I was a little disappointed with the seaweed rice cake. It was fried too hard, and it was also because it was too small. It would be better if it was cut bigger. Rice cake is also a common breakfast in the Jiangnan area. I ordered the signature dish, chestnut bullfrog. I have eaten chestnut chicken, but not chestnut bullfrog. I ordered it because it looked special. However, because it was the wrong season, the chestnuts were not very tasty. Maybe autumn is the time to eat chestnuts.
