This was the most disappointing hotel stay of this trip, and quite possibly the worst service experience I've encountered in all my visits to Japan. We arrived at 8 PM only to be informed that the hotel's hot spring was closed. What was truly outrageous was their nonchalant suggestion that we take a taxi to an external hot spring to 'enjoy' ourselves, at our own expense. Is that considered customer service? To make matters worse, the staff member seemed to think this was perfectly reasonable. I was genuinely speechless by his attitude. When we expressed our dissatisfaction and requested a Chinese-speaking staff member to translate, he simply disappeared, only to return much later without offering any satisfactory solution. As for the room, it was truly an embarrassment to Japanese hospitality. I absolutely do not recommend this hotel; the value for money is abysmal.
The only silver lining was waking up to a magnificent view of Mount Fuji right outside our window. I must, however, commend Ctrip; they provided solutions for this dispute even late at night, and their proactive follow-up was truly exceptional.
Nice cosy hotel. Hotel parking very limited, got to park outside parking, got 1 at 700 yen for night parking 1900-0700. Nice breakfast buffet & ice cream after onsen. Got 2 massage chair, same level as onsen. There's free washing machine usage only beside men onsen so quite inconvenience for ladies to use. Dryer 20mins @100yen.
Lovely property in a great location. You’re slightly more off of the beaten track but the tourist bus stop is right out front of the hotel. Great being right by the lake. Amazing room, massive for just me. There’s no shower in the room just a toilet but the onsen was lovely and you can shower in there. Older property also be aware those with accessibility needs the hotel is up quite a steep slope/numerous stairs and then when inside there’s no lift so I had to carry my luggage up and anyone with mobility issues would struggle as I believe all the rooms are on the first floor and that’s after tackling the way up to the hotel. Staff were lovely, can’t comment on dinner or breakfast but a great traditional ryokan stay.
Check in at 6 pm, the counter staff who can communicate in English have been off work and cannot communicate in English. The hotel facilities are old and the carpets on the aisle have traces of water. But the breakfast and dinner here are very good.
It is a resort tucked away from the busy Kawaguchiko station area, yet convenient to go to the station for sightseeing buses thanks for the hotel shuttle bus. Please check the shuttle schedule on the hotel website. We really enjoyed the beautiful hotel garden and trails by the lake outside the hotel. You can also rent bikes from the hotel with minimal fees and ride around the lake. The buffet breakfast has variety of both Japanese and western options. We had dinner in the hotel too since there is no restaurants in the vicinity. The food is fine but pricey. The onsen is nice. I am not sure it is hot springs water though. Overall it is a very nice hotel and we had a relaxing day here.
Although the building is very old, when you go inside, every corner is clean and the quality of service is eye-catching. In a calm atmosphere, you can feel the blessings of nature. Because it is on a high platform, Mount Fuji can be seen beautifully in the distance.
The check-in procedures were also very detailed, and the facilities, hot springs, eating styles, etc. were all explained in an easy-to-understand manner.
A total of three meals were eaten, and each meal was very satisfied. The portion of afternoon tea is moderate, giving people a light meal feeling, and supper is a whole western meal. I also ate western food for breakfast. Because there are waiters at each table, there is no inconvenience.
The hot spring is also full of fun, there is no one inside, and you can spend extravagant time. It is recommended for those who like hot springs to try it once. You can also go to and from the hot spring on the same day with lunch!
Japanese style hotel. A bit old and outdated but I think it's charming with Tatami, futon and closet like where Doraemon sleep.
If you arrive at station after 3 pm you can call hotel for free pick up service, just 10-15 mins then they're there.
We've got a room at 10th floor so bit of a walk from main building to our room but it's fine there, great view of Fuji and lake.
Room were nice in Japanese style like I ever read in manga.
Our rate were breakfast and dinner included. Then they arranged for you as the time you prefer. Excellent food and super good service! Even they speak 99% only Japanese but service is extraordinary.
Don't miss the onsen too, cool experience to take a bath with a view.
They also have shuttle service to train station , just ask reception ,free of charge.
Very nice hotel with great service. The garden is really nice to walk around with river flowing through it. Rooftop onsen in the evening as the sun sets is the highlight of the trip. The drum performance at night followed by bingo game was really captivating. Shoutout to Yumi who guided us to our room and explained all the hotel amenities and services. Food is extensive though taste wise in find not as tasty as what was offered in Tokyo. Tips: wake up early to take pic of Mt Fuji as I noticed by 11am the mountain was already hiding within the mist.

GGuest UserFor any Yuru Camp anime fans, if you also are interested in an Onsen experience this is the perfect place. The facilities and staff are amazing! I couldn't believe the size of my room, especially after coming from a business hotel in Tokyo. I thought Deluxe Twin was just the ”deluxe” version of a standard single twin size bed room instead of two twin beds but there are no complaints.
Given it's more remote location I was expecting zero English but I was so surprised at how well some of the staff spoke English and had print outs for English speakers. I have to shout out two staff members, Nozomi and Joon Bae's english combined with my limited and grammatically atrocious Japanese they went above and beyond making me understand how everything worked as well as assisting me with my ventures outside of the onsen. They have two e-bikes available for rent which I rode to the next station on the minobu line so I could visit the school that was used in the anime as well as get a taxi to take me to Lake Shibere, from episodes 6 and 7 of season one.
It was my first time in Japan, being the only foreigner at the hotel for the two full days, I only visited the baths once however the facilities are amazing and I plan on going back to use the Onsen more.
GGuest UserThe world oldest Ryokan and hotel is definitely worth the title. We arrived at a much later timing, 3 hours after our check-in to be precise because of detour and traffic conditions. Location wise is definitely not the easiest to reach with other transports beside driving there. However we give 5 stars because we don't it that much of a hassle to us. In terms of service, it's extremely excellent. When we arrived, we will greeted by the staffs, luggage being handled and bring to our room for us. Even though we were late for our dinner (last timing 6.30pm), the staffs was still very accommodating and arrange it for us at 6.45pm while explaining to us the facilities, rules and regulation of the place and etc. While having the dinner and breakfast, the staffs will explain each of the various dishes before we begin eating and will leave the room after explanation in order to let us enjoy. The onsen was great and definitely a must try. Everything about this place is so perfect that we will definitely go back a second time with 2 days in a row to fully enjoy and relax.
GGuest UserI was quite worried because some of the recent reviews were disappointing, but although there were quite a lot of people, we didn't have to queue for meals, and we were able to relax in the hot springs, which became a very fond memory. The kids also had a lot of fun with the playground equipment in the basement and said they wanted to go back again. However, there was a bit of a queue after we finished eating, so I think it might be better to dine earlier. The food was very delicious. It's a very good inn and I recommend it.
PPurple castle in the skyThe location was scenic as we could see both the lake and Mount Fuji clearly. The private Onsen had amazing view!
Service was excellent and buffet was great with lots of choices. The steak was very nice!
Would recommend this hotel as had a lovely time!
GGuest UserLocation is perfect for people with cars!!! There's plenty of food options down the road including McDonald's KFC, daiso just next door, convenience stores across the road, petrol station at the traffic junction, and of course Mount Fuji view from the hotel room!!! Mount Fuji view is not easy to catch during winter season as the sky gets misty easily, so being able to view Mount Fuji in the morning upon waking up is just perfect.
Complimentary onsen for hotel guests too, which is payable for public (see picture for price list).
Hotel also provides fresh towels and amenities set every morning by hanging a bag on your door, which I think is rare for Japan hotels as most of them advocate ”save the earth” so no change of daily linens.
Only slight issue is that the hotel is quite dated, which can be seen from the carpet stains along the walkway and walls etc. But still functional so not a major problem to us!

WWei Shien ChangThe overall experience was pretty good some of the minor points for improvement:
(1) hotel offers activities and most required reservation ahead of time (2-3days) which was not shared or communicated thus we were unable to participate during our stay
(2) the restaurant seats were arranged with little clues though we went early we were not arranged into the place could see views
(3) we forgot a coat at the hotel and was not aware until checkout the hotel has yet contacted us till now
