we loved the boat trip to Fastnet. however, when booking online it was advertised as a direct trip from baltimore to the fasnet and back to baltimore. this didn't happen, we were detoured to cape clear on the way out and schull on the return, we had been informed of the schull detour when boarding. we sat on the ferry boat for 25 mins at cape clear. the trip was advertised as 2pm-4/4.30pm round trip, we didnt arrive back to baltimore till 5.30pm, we were not informed of all the extra time it would take . we had a meal booked for 5pm...

A spectacular boat trip around the Fastnet Lighthouse; we spotted several dolphins. The island is also very pretty, worth a walk around.

Brian was a great driver and guide! He made the trip as entertaining as possible, providing us with historical and even some fun facts, and always referring back to what we had just seen. However, the actual driving time is quite long, and the stop at Mizen Head is comparatively short. There's probably little that can be done about that, as the stops along the way were also useful for getting a little break from the driving. All in all, the trip is highly recommended if you're spending a few days in Cork and the surrounding area. Even though we were a bit unlucky with the weather, the views were very impressive!

Privately owned, the gaol has been beautifully restored. Chloe, our guide, was clearly knowledgeable in telling us its history and is passionate about it. Well done Chloe you were great! Hard to believe such a strict regime for the poor souls who filled it.


