Reviews: Rethymno Old Town Guided Segway Tour
Guest User2024-09-30
This was a fantastic Segway tour of the Old Town. Our guide, Theo, looked after us magnificently - he kept a great pace, was friendly and informative. Our tour included a taste of some fantastic local chocolate and a refreshing drink in a square near city hall. Thoroughly recommend! It was well worth the 90 min bus ride from Heraklion (where we were staying) but if you can, buy your bus tickets ahead of time (the buses (coaches) fill up.

I had dreamed of coming here for many years, and I can still hardly believe my luck. Our tour group was small and our guide, Akrivi, was excellent. So much to talk about -- ancient civilizations, myth, history, archaeology, art, architecture. She gave us detailed explanations, and in the end put it all together in a way that linked the myth to the reality. Nice job, Akrivi! It was hot and sunny, but worth every minute.

Simply the best. The highlight of our trip. Akrivi is an ideal guide and makes everyone feel she speaks to them. I studied classics at university, and I still found I learnt new things; my friend knew very little about the subject but also felt it was perfectly pitched for her. It's not a private tour that you can book just for your own family, but the groups are still so small that it feels like it is and everyone gets their questions answered in detail. (She had sophisticated answers to everything we threw at her!) We were really impressed by her fluency, both in the English language and just in her natural speaking style. She must give this tour several times a week, and yet we still felt like the jokes and key lines were being delivered fresh, for the very first time, just for us.
Reviews: Samaria Gorge Hiking from Chania with proffesional hiking guide
Guest User2024-07-12
A fantastic day, organisation without fault, guide super, gorge spectacular. Coach was air conditioned which was a god send at the end of the day as the last 3km of the walk was hot beyond anything I've experienced (although from the UK so not a high bar!), really well driven on some very mountainous roads. Guide gave just the right amount of information and some interesting facts during the coach journey without overdoing it. Available without being in in your face, basicly you make your own way down while she swept up any stragglers to ensure every makes the ferry. The gorge is spectacular and I would recommend to anyone interested. It is nearly all down hill but it is rough ground. I wore trainers which I would not recommend if you have hiking boots (I did not bring them to Crete), by the end the soles of my feet were suffering from the rough ground. It is also very hot, especally the last 3km from the National Park exit to the ferry. It's tough but very much worth the effort, time and cost.
