I highly recommend it, the reception staff were very nice and helpful, the rooms were cleaned every day, a nice view from the balcony, there is no air conditioning, but there is a fan. Nice, large rooms, large and comfortable beds, shower gel in the bathroom and towels changed every day. Rooftop swimming pool and sun loungers. Tasty breakfasts, regularly replenished, good juices and coffee, the only thing is that there are no vegetables for a sandwich.
We were pleasantly surprised by our stay at the Valley View Hotel Encumeada and honestly would have preferred spending more days here over some of the other hotels we stayed at on the island. The front desk staff were incredibly accommodating and available around the clock, always ready to help with anything we needed.
While the rooms are a bit outdated, they had everything we needed — a spacious bathroom, comfortable beds, and a charming balcony to relax on. The property also offers plenty of parking and is in an ideal location, very central to many of the island’s most popular hikes.
The breakfast was average; it was the same offering each day and much of it would be gone early thanks to the hikers, but the coffee machine was great and always hit the spot. Overall, we would definitely recommend adding extra days at this hotel to your itinerary — you won’t regret it.
One last detail worth mentioning is how clean the room was, something my girlfriend specifically appreciated. My only small criticism would be the pillows — each side only had one small, fairly uncomfortable pillow, so that could definitely be improved.
Hotel without parking, paid parking on the street, 1 indoor and 1 outdoor swimming pool. Great sea view from the dining room. Very good breakfast but disappointed dinner, lack of quality and diversity. Drinks on demand…not very practical given the price of the room with half-board. Very practical kitchenette area, possible to do shopping and eat in the room. Room a little old-fashioned.
🛏️🌿📍 A modest and comfortable hotel that is very central to Santana’s main activities, offering more spacious rooms than many other hotels we visited on the island.
While we appreciated the extra space and convenient location, overall it did not feel like great value for the price compared to other places we stayed. A decent option if you prioritize room size and being close to local attractions.
The Hotel is very close to the beach, our room was very nice, with a balcony and everything. Everything appeared to be clean and tidy. We liked it very much, we recommend it and we will be back.
The hotel is in Lido area with plenty of restaurants and small super markets near by. Only 3 mins walk to bus top where can bring you to City Center €1.95 single one way and airport. €5 single one way, €8 return. Walking to City center is about 20-30mins. Only 10mins walk to Forum Madeira shopping mall. Breakfast is good with many choices of fruit, salad, yogurt, ham, eggs, bread, cereals. Indoor, outdoor pool and gym are nice too. We stay in sea and swimming pool view studio with kitchenette. The balcony is wonderful.
Staffs are polite and patient. Only one con, no air conditioning in 31 degrees. Only have a ceiling fan.
Located in the heart of Funchal. There is a very beautiful park nearby. From the window there is a view of the church. Breakfast buffet is standard, coffee is disgusting. There is a lot of audibility in the room. Everything else is great. I'm happy.
The building itself is old, but all facilities are clean. The room layout is easy to use, there is plenty of storage, and the kitchenette is equipped with a microwave oven, refrigerator, cooking utensils, tableware and cutlery.
There are many restaurants within a 5-minute walk, as well as supermarkets and the coastline square. Conveniently located within 5 minutes from the bus stop for Funchal city and airport.
The breakfast buffet, which changes little by little every day, was full of variety, although there was nothing special about it.
The view of the mountains and sea from the balcony is very beautiful, and I thought it was an inn with excellent cost performance.

AAd rianThe hotel is located in a good area. Close to restaurants, beaches or boardwalk. Breakfast is decent, and the room was clean. A bit old mattress, and the furniture as well.
Considering the paid price, I would say the hotel delivers the right services.

GGhizlanThe hotel was in the heart of the city, great location and close to main attractions. Easy to get to from the airport using n9 bus for €6.
The room was cleaned daily and towels were also changed daily.
The staff were friendly and happy to help when needed.
For a 3star hotel, this hotel has great value for money due to its location, and service.
The breakfast was decent and the pool had a great view.
The room had a balcony with a beautiful view.
GGuest UserWe spent here 3 nights. Overall nothing to complain. The studio is big. May be it was a little dark but it didn’t bother us a lot. We had everything we needed. Location is good. About 20-25 min by foot to the center if you don’t want to use a car. Parking was a little bit challenge every time but there was no days when we couldn’t leave a car, every time we managed to find a place, sounds good especially when you needn’t to pay for it. The neighbors were quiet, so we slept very well.
IIURII 0705Excellent location. Friendly staff. Overall a very good breakfast. Nice room. Overall everything was super and I recommend this hotel if you are considering a budget option for a holiday in Madeira.
MMartínezTamaraIt was a great stay, and exceptional treatment, flexible hours for checking in and a good atmosphere. Everything was clean and comfortable, there was no noise and parking was relatively easy to find.
