Crab House at Pier 39

This was first crab restaurant that we tried at Pier 39. We ordered two crabs. It was good, especially the sauce. We also tried clam chowder and crab cakes. Everything was nice.

It seems to be the most popular seafood restaurant at Pier 39, specializing in seafood barbecue. The way Americans cook seafood is very different from how we Chinese cook it, with a lot of cheese, butter, basil, and lemongrass seasoning. I like it very much.

This is the most famous restaurant at Pier 39. After walking around Fisherman's Wharf, it's very comfortable to come in, sit down, drink a cold beer and eat a big crab! I chose a seat by the window, so I could see the view of the pier, but I didn't see the legendary sea lion sleeping. There are quite a lot of choices on the menu. There are only two of us. We ordered the signature Dungeness whole crab and crab chowder. The waiter recommended Stella beer, which is quite refreshing. The service is good. They will tie a small bib for you. The service charge is about 15%.

I went to San Francisco three times and ate at CRAB HOUSE seven times. I always thought that foreign chefs didn't know how to cook crabs, but I didn't expect the crabs here to taste so good. I decided to try it when I came to Fisherman's Wharf. The restaurant is located at Pier 39, not far from the sea lion viewing point.

When I walked into Crab House Pier39 at 2:30 pm, it was still full of people. I ate for an hour and left at 3:30 pm, when the store was a little empty. The appearance is not so eye-catching, but the row of large windows facing the sea in the store can see the beautiful city line and the Golden Gate Bridge. The decoration style of the store is similar to that of a cabin, with many crabs of various colors hanging on the wall. The signature here is various iron skillet-roasted seafood, grilled mussels, grilled prawns and grilled crabs, and the portions are huge. One person can't digest it, so I had to order a super small grilled mussels. After being served, the waiter sprinkled a glass of white wine, and the iron pan made a sizzling sound, white smoke and oil stars were everywhere, accompanied by a strong aroma. Use a fork to dig out a piece of shellfish meat, dip it in a little cream sauce in the middle, and put it in your mouth. Wow~ It's so fragrant! The shellfish is delicious, and the light wine removes some of the fishy smell of the ocean. The original salty taste of the sea plus a little cream taste is super delicious. I think this is the best mussels I have ever eaten! And the small portion is just this big. So I ate my mussels and looked at the grilled crabs… that is the signature dish and is definitely delicious. But I couldn’t eat it so I had to order Crab Chowder and Crab Alfredo. The crab meat in both dishes is also rich and delicious! I must call more people to eat grilled crabs next time.

It is located on the second floor of the Fisherman's Wharf where the yachts are docked. You can reserve a seat online and report the reservation number directly after arriving. Otherwise, you will have to queue up for a long time at meal time. The restaurant is decorated with big crabs everywhere. The table is not big and it is quite crowded. The whole crab I ordered came up intact, and then the waiter asked if it needed to be cut. The crab was served with the sauce prepared by the restaurant, and I felt that the taste was a bit light. The seafood bread soup was full of seafood, thick and delicious. The iron plate mussels and shrimps were also very fresh. A 10-15 tip was required, but you can give it at your own discretion. The waiter was very warm and thoughtful.

This is the earliest place to order at Fisherman's Wharf. Many guides recommend this crab house and people start queuing at 4 or 5 in the afternoon. The crabs here are really good. Two people share a crab and a portion of seafood soup. It's already very full. Eat big crabs~ I like this generous way of eating crabs. It's served on a hot stone slab and it's full of flavor.
