On December 20, 1999, the day when Macao returned to the motherland, a large-scale cast-bronze gilded sculpture "Lotus in Prosperity" presented by the State Council of China was unveiled at the Golden Lotus Square in front of the Variety Hall, which became a commemorative attraction for Macao's return to the motherland. The main part of the "Lotus of Prosperity" is composed of stems, petals and stamens, with a total of 16 shapes. It is cast in bronze with gold on the surface and weighs 6.5 tons; The total height of the sculpture is 6 meters, and the larger diameter of the flower body is 3.6 meters. The lotus flower is the regional flower of the Macau Special Administrative Region. The lotus flower is in full bloom, slim and rising, symbolizing the eternal prosperity of Macau. The three-layered red granite base is shaped like a lotus leaf, implying the three islands of Macau.
