Jiang Gong’s Lion’s Head is soft, tender and fragrant. One bite is super satisfying. I once went to Nanjing for fun and liked the style of the Republic of China in Lao Mendong. I had dinner at Honggongguan (Lao Mendong Branch) nearby. Honggongguan has a spacious hall, a large private room, and elegant decoration. The furnishings are also carefully found from the Republic of China period. Even the dining table and chairs are in the same style, a true old Nanjing Republic of China style. 🍱A large table of eleven people, ordered plum juice ribs, Shaoshuai braised pork, Qingyuan chicken, a bucket of shrimp, steamed mandarin fish, cheese shrimp lotus root, pan-fried ox eye grains, jasmine meatballs, soybean rice kernels, lotus pond moonlight, vegetable salad, ice grass peach kernels and other fifteen dishes. Honggongguan's dishes are refreshing, beautifully presented, and literary. The dishes taste good, and the most impressive ones are plum juice ribs, pan-fried ox eye grains, and Qingyuan chicken. The ingredients are authentic, the heat is accurate, and the taste is not heavy. The taste of the other dishes is also OK. 🏕In general, the food, environment and service of Honggongguan are all good, you can go there to experience the style of the Republic of China.

As for the dishes, I personally feel that the a la carte and set menus are similar. If you can accept the dishes in the set menu, choose the set menu after all, there are certain discounts. If there are a few things you don't like, it's better to order a la carte, with a stronger selection. The signature beef cubes are very good, and the portion is not small. The meat is tender and the sauce on the outside is very flavorful. The fish is a little over-fried, and some of the meat inside is a little dry. The overall taste is quite good, and a little sweet. We ordered a standard portion, but it is really not small, and can be shared by two people. The salad and mustard flavors are stronger, and the shrimp flavor is slightly masked. The dried shredded pork is a little more ordinary than I expected, not quite like the one in Yangzhou, not cut very finely, and the bean juice flavor is not too strong. Overall, the environment is good, the dishes taste okay, and there is a sense of history. The price is a little expensive.
