In August 2021, my husband and I embarked on a trip to the Jiabang Terraces. In the morning, clouds and mist slowly rose from the Jiabangche River, lingering between the layers of terraces and the scattered stilt houses. Strolling in the village, the brick and wooden houses are still simple and quaint. Several elderly people in traditional costumes sit leisurely at the door of their homes and chat with each other. Their faces are full of traces of time, and every wrinkle seems to hide endless stories. The hearty laughter from time to time adds a bit of vitality to the quiet village. Take a bus from the county town to Jiabang, shuttle through the winding paths, with soft soil under your feet and green rice waves swaying in the wind beside you, and enjoy the pastoral scenery and farming culture. Although it did not catch up with the unique beauty of the irrigation period and harvest season, the greenery in July-September is equally charming. Take a bus from Congjiang or Rongjiang Station to come to this paradise. The surrounding rice flower fish and other specialties are unforgettable. Find a shady place to relax in the afternoon. In the evening, the setting sun dyes the terraces into a gorgeous orange-red, and the light and shadow interweave and change on the ridges and the water, creating a beautiful scenery. Walk into the wine house, taste a sip of Zhuangjia stewed wine, and feel the unique ethnic charm. At night, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, accompanied by the twinkling stars and the chirping of insects, you will find the long-lost tranquility in your heart.
