Paviljoen Smit Bokkum

The fork is the number one restaurant in the fishing village. We made reservations early. When we arrived, there was no one in the restaurant. The waiter was very nice and let us choose seats. If it wasn't so cold, I would have chosen the one with a view of the sea outside. The environment inside is also very nice. I didn't know from the menu outside that this is a century-old restaurant. Every review online mentioned that the smoked eel was delicious. The fish was absolutely fresh. There was crispy bread underneath. We also ordered scallops with lobster sauce rice. This dish tasted a bit like seafood rice. The lobster sauce was very good. The texture of the rice was exactly the same as what I had in Spain. The fish and chips were average. The price of the drinks was normal. They didn't increase the price because it was a popular restaurant. I guess it would be more beautiful in the summer.

The fish was good quality and absolutely delicious. But most of it, we appreciatted the time the server took to explain the dishes and answer all our questions about local fish vs imported fish and seafood on the menu. The halibut stew was exceptional, and so was the fried cod. The eel soup was also a nice and tasty discovery, just as the entire meal. Thank you.

The food was absolutely outstanding! The eel melted in your mouth and the fish was so fresh, moist and tasty. The vegetables served alongside the fish dishes were unusual and supdrb. We highly recommend this restaurant and if our travels ever bring us back to the Netherlands, we will surely come back here!

I recommend trying the delicious tasting plate of smoked eel and fish. We loved seeing the smoker and watching the film about the history of the restaurant.

Erg lekker, nice oval beer and amazing fish, we do recommend this to all our friends! Best place in Volendam , you will like it. Come and check it!!!!
