Mountway Hotel Apartment: A Budget Gem for Asian Travelers in Perth
I recently stayed at Mountway Hotel Apartment in Perth, and I must say it’s one of the best options in its price range, especially for Asian travelers looking for a long-term stay with self-catering facilities.
Location: The hotel’s location is incredibly convenient for getting around. It’s just 1.1 km from the central train station, and you can hop on free bus services like the Red CAT, Blue CAT, or Green CAT, with stops only 100m to 250m away—perfect for easy commuting. Behind the hotel lies the stunning Kings Park and Botanic Garden. If you don’t feel like walking the 300m to get there, the Blue CAT will drop you off effortlessly. The accessibility to public transport and nearby attractions is a huge plus.
Cleanliness: While the exterior might look a bit dated, the interior is surprisingly spotless. I booked a room for two, but the bedding and pillows provided were enough for four, which was a nice touch. Everything felt fresh and well-maintained, and I was thoroughly satisfied with the cleanliness.
Facilities: The private kitchen was a highlight—equipped with a rice cooker, pots, pans, a toaster, a fridge, and enough cutlery, plates, and utensils for four people. They even provide coffee, which I appreciated. However, there are a few downsides: the electric stove is small and outdated, making cooking a bit slow. Also, there’s no salt or basic seasonings provided, nor chopsticks, which might inconvenience Asian guests. The bathroom features a very clean bathtub, but it lacks shampoo and body wash, so you’ll need to bring your own.
Despite these minor drawbacks, I’d still rate Mountway Hotel Apartment as the best value for money in its category. It’s practical, comfortable, and ideal for Asian travelers who want to stay longer and cook meals to suit their tastes. I’d happily recommend it to anyone looking for a home-away-from-home experience in Perth!
I had a lovely stay at The Local Hotel. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. We had plans to spend a night on Rottnest Island before checking in for two nights at the hotel, and they kindly allowed us to store our luggage a day early. It was such a big favor and made our trip much more convenient. When we arrived, our luggage was already in our room, which was a nice touch.
The room itself was stylish and modern. We opted for a corner room, which had three large windows, filling the space with natural light. The lighting in the room was also well done, creating a pleasant ambiance.
Although the toilet and bathroom were shared, and there was some noise from the bar's music, the overall experience was enjoyable. These minor inconveniences were overshadowed by the positive aspects of our stay.
Overall, I think The Local Hotel as a lovely place to stay. We had a nice experience.
Breakfast is bread. Tea and coffee can be provided on the table. It is relatively simple. There is also a kitchen where you can cook something else. You can also have jacaranda and various plants in the yard. . This place is worth staying for a few more days.
When you stay at Dolphin Retreat Bunbury - Hostel in Bunbury, you'll be near the beach, within a 5-minute walk of Bunbury Regional Art Galleries and Back Beach. This hostel is 0.3 mi (0.5 km) from Bunbury Visitor Centre and 0.5 mi (0.8 km) from Bunbury CentrePoint.
Take in the views from a garden and make use of amenities such as complimentary wireless internet access and an arcade/game room. This hostel also features a television in a common area, tour/ticket assistance, and barbecue grills.
Featured amenities include luggage storage, laundry facilities, and a library. Free self parking is available onsite.
Make yourself at home in one of the 13 air-conditioned rooms featuring microwaves. Prepare your meals in the shared/communal kitchen. Complimentary wireless internet access is available to keep you connected. Bathrooms have showers and hair dryers.
Was greeted quite rudely by a woman who snapped ”There are no vacancies”. Told her my name and she said a person of that name had already checked in. Told her my accommodation was already booked and paid for and showed her my phone with the information. Strange as ”vacancies” sign was up outside this establishment. Accommodation was quite good other than this person's abrupt greeting.
We really enjoyed the natural bush, the tent was very well equipped, warm, comfortable, nice space and the camp kitchen was also well equipped for the cooking.
The hotel can check in by itself after 5 pm, but I don't know what caused Trip.com to not leave my correct contact information to the hotel, but a bunch of garbled codes, resulting in the hotel not sending me a notification message to successfully pick up the key. Fortunately, the hotel staff is still nearby.
Hotel room facilities are far inferior to the domestic three-star, the price is very low. There are not many places to choose in the town, it will be one night, and it will never stay for the second night.
The room is nice, parking is convenient, there are many places to eat nearby, the back door can be opened for ventilation, there is also a swimming pool, and it takes less than ten minutes to walk to the pier, which is a good experience.

JjudzzVery nice and clean hostel. The beds are comfortable and staying in a 6bed female room was just perfect for me. The hostel also organised a bbq night, quiz night, yoga, movie night and so on, which was great and easy to meet new people! The location is perfect too and Fremantle just a very nice area of Perth with nice beaches, good public transportation to the city center and a many cute coffee shops.
Can only recommend :)
GGuest UserMy friend and I were originally staying in a standard double room, but were upgraded to a large room for 4. The dormitory was clean and tidy, with room cleaning every day and friendly staff. It is very good hostel.

GGuest UserThe location is very good. It's a short walk or bus ride to the train station. There are also many food options nearby. It's a living area. The hygiene is pretty good by youth hostel standards. The kitchen is great and fully equipped, and you can even live there for a long time. However, the shower head in the girls' bathroom has not been repaired.
GGuest UserThis hostel offers good value for money and is located in the city center. The kitchen has ample utensils and space, but is generally clean. The staff is generally friendly, and they don't allow for next-day luggage retrieval. To borrow a hairdryer, you need to exchange your passport.

JJuliaThis time I booked an 8-bed room for 5 days. The location is very close to the coach station. It is very suitable for people without a car. The room is not always full. The staff is very warm and friendly. Even if I booked a mixed room, I learned that I have room. A female companion will try to arrange an all-female dormitory for us! Moreover, the cheap price package also provides simple breakfast, which is a surprise! Although the hygienic environment may not be very good for picky people, this backpacker hostel is very pleasant. The toilets and bathrooms are very clean, and the common area is also regularly cleaned. It is much better than most affordable backpacker hostels!

MMAHOIt's about a 15-minute walk from the airport and a 10-minute walk from Chinatown, so I think the location is very good.
The staff are all very friendly and will help you if you have any questions.
The shared spaces are cleaned every day, so you can use them without any problems.
The room isn't very large, but it was fine for sleeping. From what I heard from the people around me, the comfort of the room seemed to depend on the people staying there. My room was a mixed 6-person room, and there were a lot of men, but most people kept their luggage compact and placed things in the lockers or around the bed, and it was comfortable because most people were quiet.
It's generally noisy outside until 11pm.
Jjuney22It's a no frills hotel with no reception desk. You have to walk to the end of the hotel till you see a hollow entry and you will see the key cases with room numbers on the wall. No slippers provided, no shower gel only shampoo and conditioner provided. It's shared bathroom and there's a common kitchen with toaster and microwave. There's a mini fridge in the room. Overall ok for 1 or 2 nights stay.
