The Chedi Andermatt, Switzerland

Apart from the price tag, everything else was just perfect.

We really enjoyed our time at the Chedi Andermatt. I didn't want to leave. It was restful and peaceful in a beautiful location with great access to the mountain passes for cycling. We booked the deluxe room with the bicycle package. 3 hours of biking per day and a Chedi Alpine massage are included. The room was so spacious, almost like an apartment - separate living room and dining area from the bedroom and a bath tub or rainfall shower option. It was a corner room overlooking the mountains with a wraparound porch. We felt so welcomed by a real plant in the room, a hand written card, bottle of wine and fresh stone fruit. We loved the little details in the room, like a wine bar, stocked mini fridge (non-alcoholic drinks are included), heated towel rack, and a even the cute design on the toilet paper (they're little dogs!) The road bikes are rented though a cycle shop in town, which the house car can take you to. They were Scott carbon bikes with 2x drivetrain and electronic shifting. The Restaurant: We loved the concept of having a main ingredient then a Swiss interpretation or an Asian interpretation. Standout dishes: Swiss beef papardelle, black pepper steak, an Asian salad (can't remember the exact name), peach dessert (the different textures worked really well together - crunchy, creamy and refreshing). The food was all excellent- beautiful presentation, thoughtful flavors, except for bok choy that came with a chicken dish - it was super salty and I would not recommend that one. The chefs were very attentive to my lactose intolerance and made modifications to multiple dishes. The modifications did not seem like an afterthought at all. Morning buffet is a generous spread. They even had real honeycomb! The cappuccinos with soy milk were delicious, smooth and had a lovely flavor profile. The staff are very welcoming and even remembered how I take my coffee. Housekeeping is excellent and there is turndown service. I read some of the other reviews noting the attitude toward customer service and for the most part I felt taken care of. However some instances did not sit well with me. First was our first night eating at the Restaurant. The server did not introduce the menu and also spilled a not insignificant portion of soup when she poured it into the bowl. She did apologize and then dabbed it up with a napkin. However I would have hoped she would offer to top up the soup without me asking. After all we are in a fine dining restaurant. When I brought this up, I felt dismissed. If this were my only experience with the restaurant and if the papardelle wasn't as incredible as it was, then I might not have given the Restaurant another chance. The next evening we had an Asian gentleman server who was very professional, attentive and made excellent suggestions on the menu in an unobtrusive way. Cascas Salon - Valentina is an artist. Sicherlich ein gutes 5* Hotel - aber nicht aussergewöhnlich. Wir hatten eine 100m2 Suite, die war wirklich sehr schön. Das Ambiente in Lobby, Spa und Restaurants ist maximal 5* Durchschnitt.

Wir wurden freundlich empfangen, sogar ein Upgrade wurde uns zuteil. Nach Besichtigung der Suite (lärmig) wollten wir das von uns gebuchte Zimmer beziehen. Dies sei nicht möglich, da sie überbucht seien, teilte man uns mit. Dann haben wir nach 2stündiger Wartezeit Suite 3002 bezogen, diese lag neben einer Küche, die ganze Nacht Lüftungsgeräusche. Wir sind am nächsten Morgen abgereist. Die Nacht wurde uns voll belastet. Das Hotel sah es als genügende Kulanz, dass wir die weitere gebuchte Nacht und das reservierte Restaurant nicht zahlen mussten.

1) la réceptionniste à notre arrivée nous a confirmé qu’il ne fallait pas réserver le restaurant principal … Lors de notre arrivée au restaurant vers 19.45 hrs, le responsable nous a dit que le restaurant était complet… et que la réservation était obligatoire De retour vers la réceptionniste, elle nous dit ne pas être au courant, car elle n’est pas là depuis longtemps Nous avons dû chercher un restaurant dans le village d’Andermatt, un peu compliqué, car le mardi les 3/4 des établissements sont fermés 2) nous avions réservé au spa directement un massage pour le lendemain et 2hres plus tard il a été annulé sans raison en nous proposant seulement une autre possibilité… mais le soir… 2) nous attendons toujours le relevé de la facture de notre séjour que la réceptionniste a proposé de nous envoyer par mail plutôt que sur papier… 3) dommage qu’il n’y aie que quelques chaises-longues à l’extérieur C’était notre 3 eme séjour au Chedi , mais certainement le dernier… dommage que l’ancien directeur ne soit plus là
