Rooms are quaint, comfortable and well provisioned with coffee and tea. Light breakfast to get the day started. Each morning prior to sunrise, I would take my coffee out into the gardens in the back of this chateau built in the 1700's and just enjoy the cacophony of birds, the emerging spring flowers and the cool air. Very relaxing, centrally located in Bayeux a very friendly town to Americans. Michel and Gilles are wonderful hosts, invisible until you need them! Bayeux, was spared destruction during the Normandy landings and remains idyllic in nature. Restaurants fill quickly, get your reservations early. Michel and Gilles will have recommendations. This was a return trip for my family, we intend to return. Plan your reservations as early as practicable for this place books well in advance of any travel.

Beautiful building over 250 years old. Gilles and Michael are wonderful hosts. I was worried about the lack of air conditioning during unseasonably warm weather, but the room was very comfortable on an 87 degree day. Breakfast was excellent. Gorgeous gardens out back, like a private oasis to have a glass of wine.

My husband and I rented three rooms for a family trip with my brother and adult niece. Gilles and Michael are hosts with the most. Warm and gracious, they frequently went out of their way to accommodate our early schedules despite no special requests on our part. Their B&B is beautifully decorated with a French country aesthetic that is occasionally accented by avant garde wall art. We would love to return again in the future.

This beautifully restored old home was the perfect place to stay over the busy DDay weekend. Michael and Gilles are the perfect hosts, friendly and full of information about local restaurants, tours or the town of Bayeux. Their breakfast is filling and delicious and their walled in garden is the best place to relax after a day of touring. The weather was chilly when we visited but we had the best sleep of our trip in a warm firm bed. I highly recommend staying at Le Clos de la Croix in the center of Bayeux for exploring Bayeux, Normandy or Mont Saint Michel.

We stayed at this Hotel Particulier (i.e. a Parisian style 'grand urban town house') for 3 nights in May with another couple. We were visiting the Normandy beaches and seeing the Bayeux Tapestry. I cannot recommend the hotel highly enough. It was an experience in itself over and above beautiful Bayeux. Michael and Gilles are the hosts and are extremely friendly and helpful for giving advice about where to go in the area etc. The building is essentially their home with 5 rooms for guests. It is decorated in a highly elaborate, quirky and interesting style. Each bedroom is huge. We had a walk in wardrobe, a sofa as well a big double bed and even then there was plenty of space to move around. Also a large bathroom. Although the hotel is central and accessed straight off the street, once inside it was very quiet and a haven of calm. The gardens are large and beautifully kept with plenty of areas to sit around in. There is a free public carpark immediately at the back of the building so very convenient. Breakfasts were a real treat with a different home-baked item every day with fresh jams. Michael and Gilles were very attentive in providing every need during our stay.

Le Clos de la Croix was the highlight of our trip! Gilles and Michael were warm, friendly, and incredible hosts. The property is immaculate, full of charm, and the breakfasts were delicious. This was our favorite B&B experience to date—we highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bayeux!

From the moment the grand doors to the property opened and we were welcomed warmly by Gilles and Micheal, we knew we had made the perfect choice for our time in Normandy. The property itself offers beauty and old world charm, which is perfect if you are exploring the phenomenal history of the area. A stay with Gilles and Michael includes a beautiful room, elegantly decorated in line with the 1700’s, when the home was built. Consistent with this theme is a gorgeous breakfast, which truly made me feel like a princess! I imagine this is how the original occupants dined. We had busy and sombre days, visiting Vimy, Juno, Omaha, but were always met with cheer by our wonderful hosts. I would recommend this gem to anyone who appreciates French culture, history, and a gracious way of living largely lost in our modern day busy lifestyles.

This charming B & B is the extrodinary home of Giles & Michael. It is a haven of peace and tranquillity with the most beautiful courtyard and gardens. Our room on the top floor was spacious with a lovely view of the cathedral. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the shower was spotlessly clean and hot. The breakfast was a joy. Homemade preserves and an array of cold meats, cheeses, bread, and pastries. One morning, Giles has made individual fruit crumbles, the best I have ever eaten. It is an easy walk into town to see the Bayeux Tapestry and all the other delights this little town has to offer.

This guest house was marvelous. The room was large and comfortable with a nice seating area, and the bathroom was immaculate. Gilles and Michael have filled their home with a wonderful collection of furnishings and art work and have created beautiful front and back gardens. The breakfast they served was delicious and substantial, including a different fresh pastry each day along with fresh fruit, bread, jams, and charcuterie. They are wonderful hosts, offering help and suggestions and made us feel totally at home in their amazing home.
