Back again in January for what has become our annual escape from the British winter to our favourite Maderia hotel, the food is just as good as before and it was nice to meet a few other January regulars as well as some new ones and Ivone is always available with her invaluable assistance and then there's the wonderful Paulo who always has a warm welcome for you in the restaurant, in fact all the staff are great from the lovely ladies that work tirelessly to keep your room clean and tidy to the management. We're looking forward to returning in January 26

The Views Oasis is such a lovely hotel, one of the best we have stayed in. All the staff are lovely and really professional. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the maid service is excellent. We opted to not have our room deep cleaned for 3 of the 7 days of our stay and even on those days the maid came in and emptied bins, changed towels if we needed her to. We loved the location and really enjoyed walking around the local area which is so pretty. We are all really mobile (12 years old up to 68) but for anyone with walking difficulties this may be a problem as it is very hilly! We went bed and breakfast but opted to dine in the on-site buffet restaurant on the 95 euro per person deal. This includes 3 opportunities to use the restaurant any 3 nights of your stay and included wine, water and sift drinks. It was excellent - such lovely food and all dietary requirements catered for Breakfast was extensive and catered for all. I can’t imagine anyone not being able to find something to eat. We all loved it. The weather was really pleasant and such a surprise. Madeira has a micro climate so hard to predict the weather however Caniço receives some of the nicest weather on the Island. We sat by the pool on multiple days and due to the outdoor pool being semi heated we all swam in the lovely outdoor pool. The outdoor hot tub was also a lovely treat and my 68 year old mother even swam in the sea! We really enjoyed all the restaurants in the local area and found them to be easily accessible and very reasonable. Our highlights was La Carbonara, a lovely pizza pasta restaurant a 10 min walk away. We used the public bus (2.60 euros ) service to Funchal which was good and easy to use. It was more like a coach than a traditional bus but does get very busy. Funchal is an amazing city, lots to see and do. We did the cable cars and the views are spectacular. I purchased tickets online but made the mistake of standing in the ticket office queue so ended up queuing twice!! The queue was quite long but moved quickly and it was really worth it. I waited to write this review to really digest my thoughts and can honestly say the whole holiday was really lovely - we will definitely return.

What a lovely hotel !! Quick check in which is at 3pm onwards . Our room wasn’t ready as we arrived early but we just strolled round the hotel and chilled by the pool with a drink The rooms are very clean . Beds are so comfortable we had a great sleep. There is a pillow menu too ! The rooms can get a bit warm at night but we opened the patio door and there was a welcome breeze with the sound of the waves - bliss !!! The food was of good quality at breakfast and dinner with lots of choice . We chose the 3 night dinner option which is definitely worth it. The hotel does theme nights at dinner . There wasn’t many restaurants around that we fancied. All the staff were very polite and work extremely hard to make your stay enjoyable. We used the local bus which was just under 6 Euros for 2 people . The stop is right across from the hotel . obrigado to all the staff ! Amazing team we will return . Sergio on reception is very knowledgeable on the local tourist spots and takes the time to chat to guests

The Views Oásis has rapidly become our second home since our first visit in February 2023, We are returning in two weeks and this will be our sixth visit. We have always felt at home here. The hotel’s ethos is for guests to feel at home. To quote a member of staff, ! “This is YOUR hotel !” We have got to know the staff, who are all amazing, and cannot do enough for you, whether it’s housekeeping, maintenance, reception, restaurant, bar staff, or the management team, so friendly and welcoming too, including some staff that we had not seen before, as they were from one of their other hotels in the group. Special thanks to Paolo (2), Francesco and Sandra. The rooms are spacious, whether an all inclusive superior room or a self catering Studio, they are just perfect with most having Sea views too. The location is perfect for us; straight out from the Hotel onto the promenade with a flat walk in either direction. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean, as is the pool. There are plenty of sun beds and seating. The pool bar serves excellent a la carte food daily, The Hotel has been undergoing renovation for the last year, and the changes are pretty amazing too - especially the new well thought-out family rooms! We spent four weeks self-catering in a studio apartment at The Views Oasis in Canico in January 2025. We had a wonderful time exploring the beautiful island of Madeira and if you are fit and active there is certainly enough to do to keep you occupied for that length of time. The hotel can help organise trips and it's advisable to use a guide on the levadas as they can be quite dangerous. I really recommend Lido Tours. The hotel itself is in a great location, between the airport and Funchal. The hotel offers a free shuttle bus into Funchal several times a day which only takes about 20 minutes. You do need to book it though as places are limited. The shuttle doesn't run on weekends but the local bus service is really good and cheap. We preferred to stay out of Funchal as the pollution from the traffic, cruise ships etc can be quite bad. Our self-catering studio room was really large and we had a fabulous view of the sea which meant we saw the sun rise in the morning and had sun on the balcony until early evening. We were on the 5th floor in room 514. The kitchenette was fine for making breakfasts, packed lunches and salads. There was a good sized fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee maker and two ring hob. The two nearby supermarkets were fine for essentials and we used the Pingo Doce in Funchal for the rest of our shopping. We found 99.9% of the staff at the hotel, particularly the cleaners and restaurant staff, amazing. They were really helpful and friendly. The reception staff were also lovely and friendly except for one young lady (long dark hair and glasses) who just didn't want to engage and was actually quite rude. We found this odd as everyone else was so lovely. She'd seen us every day for a month so you'd have thought she might have said something polite when she checked us out like "hope you enjoyed your stay", but not a word! In our third week we had an issue with two families who were either side of our room. They were all related and the two couples between them had 7 children, all boys under the age of 11. The parents let the children run riot between the two rooms at any time of day or night, screaming and banging on our door and I had to speak to the hotel manager Yvon. She said she spoke to the parents but I don't think the staff can really do much with feral children and parents who didn't really care. We were just relieved when they all left. This is advertised as a family friendly hotel but I wouldn't say there was a lot to do for small children, except swim in the pool. The other issue we had was cigarette smoke. Guests are allowed to smoke everywhere in the grounds of the hotel and on the balconies. If you get a heavy smoker next door or below (which we did), the smoke comes into the room. The reception area smells of cigarette smoke because people stand right outside under the covered area and smoke, and smoking is allowed round the pool, bar and breakfast areas. Our entire family enjoyed our stay : from the pool to the rooms, everything was very enjoyable! The brekafast and dinner are nice, but I would prefer less choice and more quality. But I guess it's almost the same problem for all buffet style food.
