Best Dunhuang Hotels

"The Dunhuang Hotel lives up to its reputation! It's located right next to the Shazhou Night Market and offers a wealth of dining options. The hotel's facilities are first-class, elegant, and beautifully appointed. I originally booked a king-size bed room without a window, but the hotel proactively upgraded me to one with a window, which was very thoughtful. The room was comfortable and cozy, and the front desk and housekeeping were attentive and helpful. I stayed four nights, and while the room was quite expensive, it was a great value! The only downside was the breakfast. While the breakfast setting was pleasant, the service was friendly, and the food looked plentiful, it was almost identical every day and not particularly tasty. The hot dishes tasted like leftovers. The cantaloupe wasn't sweet at all, and there were several canned fruits on display. It's harvest season, so why not have more fresh fruit?"

"Excellent place to stay in Dunhuang! Room is big but cozy and decoration is exquisite. Breakfast is hearty and you can have sparkling wine early morning 😀 Price is on the high side but hotel made up for it with top notch services! At night they have several cultural activities in offer. I was able to join 2 of them and it was pretty fun! Plus they have me free cocktail on my last night there. Two thumbs up 👍👍"

"When I arrived, I have had some problems because my room was too noisy. The staff was unable to solve the problem but once 李远兴 (Manager Li) was informed, she immediately took care of the problem and changed me to a very nice room without any noise from outside. And the room is fantastic! Once again, I want to thank Manager Li for her great job! Because of the excellent way by which she solved the problem, I even stayed two more days in this hotel. So, I truly recommend this hotel. Thank you Manager Li!!"

"Highly recommend! This hotel offers airport or railway station pickup free service. The hotel location is excellent and not so far for Mogaocave, the dunhuang night market, Mingsha Mountains.. The hotel room is super clean, wide, and has comfy.beds. Also, the hotel provided everything necessary Especially the hotel staff are very friendly and responsible for guests. We stayed there for 3 nights 4 days and the staff always helped us for traveling. They called a taxi for us to travel to tourist spots Even if they don't speak English , we communicate by translation application on the phone. They also bring us to pharmacy and supermarket. How they are wonderful and thankful. If we go there again, we will definitely stay there again. I traveled all over the world for 20 years, but I never met like the hotel and staff. Totally never forgetable hotel and staff. God bless forever! Thanks again!!!"

"Hotel is very nice. The location is close to the Shanzhou Night Market and it takes roughly 5-10 Minutes by walking there. In one of the side alleys are hidden gems, namely restaurants that do not appear on Google Maps or Apple Maps. I recommend to explore the surrounding area. Also the hotel is very clean in general, however my room has stains of previous travelers in the rug. I recommend to thoroughly clean it professionally. The staff were excellent and super friendly. Check In was very easy as foreigner and the overall service was very good."

"The breakfast at 7 AM was very generous and varied, featuring local specialties like peaches, a local mutton dish served with bread, yogurt, and coffee. They also thoughtfully provided complimentary souvenirs, wet wipes, and small hand lotions. However, I believe the staff needs better training on local transportation options. When I called to ask for directions to the hotel, I was simply told to take a taxi. Upon asking about public transport, the reply was 'locals don't use it, so we wouldn't know,' which was quite baffling and unhelpful. Aren't people visiting here for tourism? I hope they strengthen their training in this area. On a positive note, there's a Huadong Supermarket and Bus Line 3 conveniently located right downstairs."

"It was a completely unexpected state guesthouse-level experience. Since its construction in 1979, the hotel has received many dignitaries and VIPs as a state guesthouse. The murals in the lobby of the north building and the flying fairy in the lobby of the south building are definitely national treasures, and can be called the first cave of Mogao Grottoes. Although the rooms of the old four-star hotel are small and the equipment and facilities are a bit old, the hygiene is very good and the service is very considerate. The breakfast alone is 40 per person, which is a little expensive, but the quality is beyond reproach, especially the fried dough sticks, which are absolutely state banquet-level, and the beef noodles are the standard answer to Lanzhou beef noodles. In the off-season, you can enjoy the state guesthouse at a relatively low price, which is great value!"

"When traveling on business, I am most afraid of encountering a hotel with poor soundproofing, but this hotel is simply the ”caring representative of the hotel industry”! When I arrived in the early morning, the guy at the front desk took the initiative to help move the suitcases. When checking in, he gently reminded me that ”there is an ice machine at the end of the corridor, and you can add ice if you stay up late to work.” In the room, there was an eye-protection desk lamp and free mineral water next to the table. The sockets were marked with ”mobile phone fast charging” and ”computer interface”. The detail control was directly grasped! There is a constant temperature shower in the shower room, so you don’t have to worry about the water temperature being hot and cold when taking a shower. The water volume is really large. , Dunhuang feels like a relatively desolate city. I didn’t expect the hotel facilities to be so amazing. They also gave us water before leaving. This feeling of being cared about is so warm. I have already recommended it to other friends who plan to come to Dunhuang."
