Myself and my wife were put into room 234 upon arrival on the 3rd May. it looked a very pleasant room and there was a smell of "New" in the room and what looked to be new beds. Upon waking up the following morning, my wife noticed small smeared blood stains all over the bedsheets. On further inspection, we found live bedbugs in the bed, on the floor, on the curtains, and in the bathroom, (photos attached). When raising this with reception and insisting that a manager visit the room before we checked out, we were informed that there was no manager on duty. The receptionist herself had to come up to the room and took photos of the stains and live bugs. It was at this point that she told us that the room had been closed off for the previous few weeks due to bedbugs and a new bed had gone into the room and we were the first guests to stay in the room following the previous complaint. I'd like to start by pointing out that when a manager called us later that day he was very apologetic and immediately agreed to refund us the cost of the stay, I'd also like to point out why this is not good enough. 1. They knew there was a bedbug problem in the room and clearly did not do enough checks to ensure that they had been eradicated from the room before opening the room to guests again. 2. While refunding the cost of the room is the minimum they should have done to compensate us. We had to treat all our clothes(and ruined many items in doing so) to ensure we did not bring the bedbugs into our own home. We also threw out 2 carrier bags and now face weeks of being extra vigilant in our own home to ensure no bed bug infestation takes hold. 3. This has significantly affected my wife in the sense that she is now paranoid of every small black mark she sees in and around the bed In our home and is not sleeping as a result. 4. We left Killarney earlier than planned as the paranoia about bugs on our clothes and potentially spreading them to others took over. Due to a lack of diligence by the hotel and a failure in their duty of care to guests. We had a weekend ruined, clothes and items destroyed and now face weeks of unrest as we do our utmost to ensure an infestation does not occur in our home. To the management of the Killarney Oaks. You don't need me to tell you how badly you messed up here. Knowing about the issue in advance, and not doing enough to sort it before inflicting your problem on us, is why this review is being posted. Note- The photos below are only of one of the beds, the second bed in the room was also covered in smeared blood stains and live bedbugs.
