The Delaware Hotel

I was looking forward to my stay in the Delaware hotel and that it was in a historic building. The staff was very friendly when they were at the front desk, however, had to look for them when I had questions. The room was much smaller than I had anticipated and difficult to navigate with two of us in the room. The bathroom was extremely small with a shower the size of a phone booth. My main complaint about the room was how hot it was. The heater was turned off, yet the room had to be about 80 degrees, even though it was in the 40’s outside that night . When I expressed my concerns regarding how dissatisfied I was and wanted to cancel my 2nd night, I was told I would still be responsible for the 2nd night. Not wanting to spend another uncomfortable night at the hotel, I checked out that morning, a day early.

Great Location to explore Leadville Stayed in room with king bed, twin and trundle twin. Room very big with nice sitting area … very clean. King has a memory foam mattress. Twin was a bit squeaky for adult who moved alot at night ( probably fine for a child/heavy sleeper) so we used the pull out trundle instead which was comfortable. Room was a bit stuffy so used provided fan and opened window . Nice shower/hot water. Large lot to park car. Staff very nice. Fun info on “*******” rooms.

What a wonderful, historic hotel ! It’s right in downtown Leadville. The staff was so nice, the room and bed were super comfy. I would definitely stay here again. Two things to be aware of. There are some very steep stairs ans no rooms on the first floor and no elevator. It’s a historic old hotel so not a surprise, just if you have trouble navigating stairs, it’s something to take into consideration. Also no A/C. Not really an issue with our stay last night, but in summer again something to consider. It shouldn’t be an issue since Leasdville is at 10,000+ feet. Stay here is you can, a step back into history AND they have free donuts for the hotel guests in the afternoon !

So much character in this historic hotel with such a wonderful atmosphere and friendly front desk attendant. We’ll be back one day for our next mountain trip.

Second time we have stayed here and had an amazing time. The beds are really comfortable.
