Crab & Boar

We stayed here for four nights last year and we happily returned for five nights this year. The room we were in last year The Langley was incredibly hot and in need of tlc so we requested another room and booked a “superior double” room, Holt. How disappointed we both were when we saw the condition of not just the room but the outside terrace area (btw hot tubs have all been removed) - foot high weeds and a dirty ashtray on the terrace, interior paintwork was peeling majorly in the bedroom and shower-room , the woodwork looks as if it’s ready to fall apart and when we tried to open the door to the patio the bolt fell to the floor. We spoke to staff about our concerns and they said yes they have been speaking to management, but unfortunately, they are down the line when it comes to renovations. The condition of our space is not something that has happened over a few months. This decline has been happening for a considerable time and when you also look at the outside areas by the rooms you can see just how tired this place has become. I looked back through reviews and our issues with the Langley last year were mentioned six months prior to our visit so it appears maintenance was, and still is, a BIG issue. The super friendly staff and the food at this hotel are absolutely fantastic but unless renovation work is undertaken, we will not return for our two visits next year. We do not sit at home in conditions like this and we certainly don’t expect to pay money to do it when we travel.

The staff were wonderful and friendly. So helpful and nothing seemed too much for them. Food was wonderful (especially the chocolate dessert!). Beautiful views and surrounding areas.

Excellent sensibly priced lunch menu with a sensible range of lighter as well as larger meals. Fabulous quality food and lovely setting outside in the sunshine. We returned later in the day for early evening drinks and they even pro-actively opened a new bottle of Hampshire fizz as the open one was flat - now that shows people who know what they’re doing! We live close but had not visited for years due to experiencing high prices and poor service. What a transformation - we will be back!

Lovely dinner at the crab and boar tonight. The staff are super welcoming and smiley. Good sized portions and quality ingredients. We had fish but the menu is varied with steaks, duck and pie of the day. The desserts were delicious and worth leaving room for!

We had a great stay at this beautiful pub. Lovely comfy room and stunning views. Super attentive staff and delicious food. Highly recommend!
