Pingyao Songsheng Chang Inn

Great location inside the ancient city! Super easy access to all the main attractions! The hotel has an incredible courtyard (the most beautiful in all Pingyao). They gave us an upgraded room that was really spacious and super comfortable, modern, very clean and tidy (nice bed, shower and very quiet). Great breakfast and also great restaurant to have lunch or dinner with lots of great food! All the staff were welcoming and helpful! The young lady gave us a map that optimized our itinerary and even suggested some sites that we didn’t know (and were really great). Really recommend this hotel for everyone! The best place to stay inside the old city!

I have mixed feeling about this inn. The reason I booked this place is because of high rating and its location in the old town. The service is really good. The reception lady come meet us and guided us to the Inn. There are shuttle bus take you from certain appointed gate to their inn, however we waited more than 30mins for this service where I have expressed my complaint. The front desk lady has redeemed herself by offered me a room upgrade, which is very nice. One thing I would like to point out is, there are lots of steps up down the courtyard due to the historical nature of the building style, it’s not easy to lift large suitcases. Then there is photography service which last till 10:30 to 11, would suggest you book a quite inner court room. Apart from these, I am happy with the service and it’s a beautiful inn.

I will start with the good - the hotel is absolutely gorgeous and exactly like the photos. It's in a good location and is surprisingly quiet. The breakfast is really good with a large variety of fresh food. The twin room was very cramped but okay. Now the bad - the room smelled very bad and was very grimy. The shower floods into the bathroom and the sink was leaking onto the floor. The service wasn't bad, it was non-existent. Right from the moment we arrived they were cold and unhelpful. They really don't care about guests. I would not stay again but I do recommend the restaurant at the front of the hotel.
