The building - along with its wide hallways - vaulted ceilings - cornice mouldings and the original lift shaft have all been precisely restored to their original glory. To revive the old world charm of the Shire Hall - its council chamber - Eden along with its imposing fireplace and elaborate wood carvings on the doors and mantlepiece have all been restored to their past splendour.
The Roseate Reading has 23 well-appointed rooms in the main hotel and 32 rooms and suites in the newly built and furnished House. All rooms and suites in the House have direct access to Aheli Spa - the gym and Roasted by Roseate - the in house patisserie and boulangerie. Every en-suite bedroom has a perfect amalgamation of art - sound - light - comfort and is equipped with Penhaligons amenities and a Nespresso coffee machine. How did they get their 5 stars?
It's a very terriable experience.
Don't be fooled by the promotional pictures, it was dark in the building and the narrow lift was very depressing. I checked in in January when the hotel reception was warm, but walking into the room was a different story.
Only a very small heater was provided and there was only one blanket; I even had to wear a heavy coat all the day. Even woke up freezing in the middle of the night.
Absolutely not worth the price and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone nor would I stay here again.

The location is in the center of Reading, very close to the train station, convenient for travel. The room is in another building and there are staff to help with luggage. The room is nice with a balcony. The hotel restaurant food is also OK. I went late on the day of check-in and only some dishes were available. The wine was good. The hotel made a mistake in the bill when checking out and charged me an extra fee. I negotiated with the platform and got it refunded. Overall I feel satisfied.
