Matina Pefkos Aparthotel

Needs upgrade ! Went here in June 2024 with hubby and daughter .stay for a week couldn’t wait to go home . ants everywhere room dirty ! Complained at reception got cleaner to come out still dirty fridge handle dirty marks all Over it looks about 20 years old bath rusty needs totall revamp of Rooms . Pools were dirty full of sand from beach only saw them clean once in week we was there . Entertainment only twice a week so not much to do in evenings . Only think good was the food at the snack bar and staff are lovely ! complain too jet2 when got home about the state of our room and offer us a 70 pound voucher bit of a joke would not go back again ! seems lot people we spoke to had same complain about ants and rooms being dirty needing total renovation.

Stayed for 10nights Oct, loved the staff all of them were happy, friendly & welcoming. We had a 1 bed 2 bathroom appartment which was perfect, looks basic in the pictures but had everything we needed, spacious, beds comfy, clean & the two bathrooms made sharing as a family with two teenagers a lot easier! Food here was just great! Had a few breakfasts by the pool & a few meals at peoples bar and the rooftop restaurant, we all enjoyed every meal. The ABC shop on site lets you pre order & will deliver to your room & unpack to fridge etc. plenty of sun beds, not a issues finding some together later morning. Hotel a couple mins walk from the beach. Really glad we booked & hope to visit again.

We had a good break during the October half term with wonderful weather but the Matina Aparthotel was simply not equipped to deal with the end of season. Three days into our week away, the restaurant had no draft beer or cider, no ice cream and sporadically ran out of chips, jacket potatoes etc. At that point we were being told by staff what they had left on the menu. With all but one other restaurant in the resort being closed from the middle of our week away, we felt robbed that the restaurant facilities advertised as part of the Matina accomodation when booking, were not fully available. Even one of the lovely staff said they were fed up of having to apologise that so much of the food and drink on the menu was not available. We feel we paid for restaurant facilities which were advertised, yet not delivered, and that no effort was made to resolve the position. We were self catering but couldn't rely on the on-site supermarket (the others in the resort had closed) as they were letting their stock run down and several shelves were empty. We chose the accomodation because of the integral restaurant and bars which were part of the complex and to avoid being reliant on other independent restaurants which may be closing down. It didn't help that seemingly being only one of two places open, the Matina restaurant and bar was catering for other visitors in addition to residents. Additionally, if you couldn't buy your usual half a pint of cider, you could either choose to go without or purchase a bottle of something at twice the price. In terms of cleanliness, the room whilst ideal, was tired. The door handles including the one on the fridge were dirty and stained. I didn't see the pool cleaned once (although I am not saying it wasnt) and by the end of our week there were a lot of fallen leaves in and around the pool. Yes, there are ants as mentioned in other reviews although being on a upper floor meant we only occasionally saw one on our balcony but they were prevalent around the pool. Dont get me wrong, we expected it to be quiet as the season came to a close and on balance, we had a good time. It just all seemed a little superficial and that the decision makers at Matina placed no importance on providing what had been advertised and paid for in good faith for the final half of our weeks stay. I wouldn't go back on principle and for fear of wasting my money yet again. Shame really as it has a lot to offer as the reviews of others, more fortunate than us, show.

Sadly nothing what I expected was very disappointed with the overall apartment. Could do with being updated. Ants everywhere. My husband was bitten to death it was awful. Facilities ok and staff wonderful and food good. However cleanliness was clearly not top priority. Apartment was never swept or balcony, bin in bathroom was not emptied everyday, around the pool was never cleaned. Sadly I will not be returning. Much nicer accommodation further up the road.

The 1 bed apt is small for 3 ppl. Very little storage space. Dated. Unfortunately ours was overrun with ants in the beds, all over surfaces. It was reported but took several days to eradicate the problem. Not pleasant trying to sleep with ants crawling over you. The room was cursory cleaned daily but it was not a great job, only the floor seemed brushed and mopped. Towels and sheets changed only once in a week, which I guess might be ok for sheets but we requested fresh towels and were told only 1 change included. €3 for further changes/fresh towel? In a hotel? Never had that experience before. No basics provided in the room only toilet rolls. So we only used 3 cups and a spoon to make tea. No sponge or wash up sachet provided. Seems excessive to have to buy dishcloth and wash up liquid for 3 cups and a spoon! The maid calls early! Too early for us (10am) and when we said it was too early she pulled a face and said tom’w? But never came the next day. Ended up 3 days with no toilet bin change….not great. The pool was not very clean. Piles of grit on the pool floor around the edges and a lot of tiny particle debris floating in the pool. Once seen it was hard to unsee! On the plus side the staff were lovely, friendly, welcoming and helpful. The food in the pool bar and the restaurant were really good quality and good value. The shop was really well stocked and reasonable prices. The hotel location was great. 3 mins walk to beach, surrounded by lots of bars and restaurants and a short 5-6min walk (up hill) to the main drag with even more shops bars and restaurants. It’s a shame they just need to improve their cleaning standards really. Based on this visit I’m afraid I wouldn’t return or recommend.

Just back from an amazing 10 days, was so good we tried to book an extra four days, unfortunately the resort was fully booked which tells you all you need to know. The complex itself is beautiful and well laid out, two nice clean pools, enough sunbeds for everyone with out it being crowded, nice music coming from the pool bar without it being too loud or distracting. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful, we had a small issue with the kettle and the shower head in our room and it was sorted quick as a flash. Room itself was spacious, fridge and freezer, microwave and hob, was also quiet, no noise coming from any of the bars or the entertainment. One little thing that I feel needs adding and that’s a curtain above the front door as it lets in light. Other than that can’t fault the rooms. On site supermarket which has all you require, although with it being on site it is a tad on the expensive side. A fantastic holiday and right on the beach, would highly recommend and would love to go back
