The Goddard Arms

We stayed here very recently for two nights, on a trip to the area. The Goddard Arms was recommended to us, after my daughter and her partner had stayed there a little while back. Our room was really lovely, very clean, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable too. The breakfast here is exceptional, one of the best we have had in a long while. The staff were so helpful, and very friendly, would highly recommended the Goddard Arms, if anyone is looking to stay in the area ☺️

When we arrived the pub was very busy. Thankfully the noise of the bar wasn't so bad once you got upstairs. Unfortunately the noise from the main road was worse, and went on all night. Ask for a room away from main road! The room itself was fine, good shower. Breakfast was a shambles. We asked for a hearty breakfast ( small) and a glass of iced water, as there was no water with the buffet. My husband had to go get the water, as the waitress "completely forgot" I had a croissant which I only took one bite out of as it was dry and stale. When our breakfast came out, we were handed large breakfast, we pointed this out to the waitress, she said she " must have made a mistake putting the order through" it wasn't at all busy, but the fact she was chatting to staff probably preoccupied her. The breakfast took at least twenty minutes to come out. It was greasy, and had several rashers of streaky bacon, instead of the one rasher of decent bacon I was expecting. There was a lot of waste, which I hate, the very reason I only ordered a small breakfast.

Went to try out new menu and was impressed. Had sea bass attractively presented, fresh and very tasty. Can thoroughly recommend. Served by such friendly helpful staff who go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect. We had a long wait but was told as soon as we ordered and Will kept us informed.
